I wonder why he was awake as he died. When dogs are euthanized, it is a totally peaceful process, they are already asleep when the final drugs are injected. They may lose body fluids but there is no suffering.
That's one thing I don't understand either. The "assisted" "suicide" crowd likes to frame this act in the same context as putting a pet to sleep. Like you said, this is a totally peaceful process. I'd also like to add that it is relatively quick.
This sounds like it was long, drawn out and painful.
Few of these suckers could shoot themselves up in a vein this way, I think, so they opt to go with something swallowed. From the grisly description it’s probably a dense solution of potassium chloride intended to induce enough hyperkalemia to stop the heart (like swallowing a brine of common salt, it would induce intense thirst) with perhaps some morphine or other opiate mixed in. I bet none of this is in any of their brochures!
