WASHINGTON — Rick Perry is the 100 million dollar man of Texas politics.
Over the past decade, he has been a political money machine, raising more than $100 million for three gubernatorial campaigns and another $50 million for GOP candidates as chairman of the Republican Governors Association in 2007-2008.
But the Texas governor's fundraising prowess will be tested as never before if he runs for president in 2012. While he's raised more campaign cash than anybody not named Bush in Texas history, Perry faces different rules and greater demands should he set his sights on 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
"In order to have a realistic chance of winning the Republican primary, Perry will need at least $200 to $250 million in the form of direct contributions or independent expenditures on his behalf," said Mark P. Jones, a political science professor at Rice University.
Perry has a host of assets that could make him a strong candidate for the GOP nomination: An enviable record of Texas job creation during a roiling recession, a consistent conservative record on economic and social issues alike, and an undefeated record as a political candidate.
But one longtime Perry supporter and donor says the governor has to answer "yes" to two questions before he says "yes" to a presidential candidacy: Is he willing to undergo the grueling demands of a campaign, from the nearly 24/7 schedule to the media scrutiny of every aspect of your life? And is he willing and able to raise the money to compete first with Republican Mitt Romney, a wealthy businessman with a nationwide fundraising machine, then with President Barack Obama, who broke every record for presidential fundraising in 2008 and is aiming to top the $1 billion mark in 2012?...........

The amendment, added by Rep. Jim Pitts, R-Waxahachie, to the education funding bill legislators needed to balance the state budget had originally been included in Senate Bill 9, the so-called "sanctuary cities" bill that failed in the special session. It also had appeared in an omnibus homeland security bill by Sen. Tommy Williams, R-The Woodlands, that died in the regular session.
The new law approved last Tuesday makes some tweaks to a 2008 DPS policy that prevents illegal immigrants from getting a driver's license and created a special license for temporary visitors. Perry attended Texas A&M University, where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets, a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity and one of A&M's five yell leaders (a popular Texas A&M tradition analogous to male cheerleaders). He interned with the Southwestern Company during the summer time as a door-to-door book salesman where he honed his communication skills. Perry graduated in 1972 with a degree in animal science. While at Texas A&M University Perry successfully completed a static line parachute jump at Ags Over Texas (a United States Parachute Association dropzone), the dropzone that was then in operation at Coulter Field (KCFD) in Bryan, Texas, just north of Texas A&M (in College Station, Texas).
Upon graduation, he was commissioned in the United States Air Force, completed pilot training and flew C-130 tactical airlift in the United States, the Middle East, and Europe until 1977. He left the Air Force with the rank of captain, returned to Texas and went into business farming cotton with his father.

His story: Way back before he was governor of Texas, Rick Perry had two choices as a young member of the Air Force.
He could either follow his dream and work toward becoming an instructor pilot in the sleek T-38, or he could fly the hulking C-130, planes that affectionately were referred to as "trash haulers" by Perry and his cohorts.
"It was one of the great adventures of my life," Perry said. "I had a fairly pedestrian life until I was 23 years old."
Perry could count on one hand the number of trips he had taken out of his home state by the time he graduated from Texas A&M University, but everything changed when he joined the Air Force.
Flying C-130s, Perry lived in Germany and Saudi Arabia. He flew in Central and South America, North Africa and all over Europe.
"I saw all of these different types of governments and I made the connections to how the people acted and looked, and it became abundantly clear to me that, at that particular point in time, that America was this very unique place and that our form of democracy was very rare," Perry said. " ... That was the greatest gift I received from my years of being in the military, and they really shaped my outlook on the rest of my life."....

So, what do we do to counter this 24/7 attack on good Americans who love their country and want what is best for everyone?
Rick Perry has been giving a talk on the 10th Amendment, explaining how when Federal controls are loosened on states, those state economies take off as businesses gear up, that jobs will come and the teachers will be paid and the roads will be built, etc.
Rick Perry's common sense 10th Amendment - the power back to the states solution to take our country back - state by state: "Don't spend all the money! -- Have a fair and predictable tax and regulatory policy! -- Have a legal system that does not allow for over suing and makes [lawsuit] loser pay!"
I think this is a perfect appeal to the country -- to an electorate who does not follow this as closely as we do. Of course Perry's ideas are broader than this but that is the essence (and an essence is like a sound-bite).
As Rick Perry says (in the link) "Texas has led but it’s been a hell of a struggle against Washington D.C. – Government must trust the people but this administration does not trust the people."
Give it up. It appears some will blindly ignore FACTS, to support their “Chosen One”. Somehow sounds too familiar to last Presidental election. The information about Perry’s big talk but no, or opposite, action is well documented and plain as day. I just don’t understand this blind devotion to him, unless one is closely related, or can get benefits from his election, or is in love.

The vaccine, Gardasil, is manufactured by Merck, which was represented in Austin by the
