White House admits war with Iran

Obama officials decry Tehran’s culpability for U.S. troop deaths

The United States is engaged in a deadly but seldom mentioned proxy war with Iran. In a rare act of candor, two senior Obama administration defense officials have addressed the open secret of Iran’s active support for insurgent groups fighting U.S. troops overseas.

Earlier this week, during a visit to Iraq, newly confirmed Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta strongly denounced Iranian support for increasingly violent Shiite militia groups in that country. “We are very concerned about Iran and the weapons they are providing to extremists here in Iraq,” he said. “We’re seeing more of those weapons going in from Iran, and they’ve really hurt us.” Mr. Panetta pledged that America would take action against Iran’s provocations. “We cannot sit back and simply allow this to continue to happen,” he said. “This is not something we’re going to walk away from. It’s something we’re going to take on head-on.”

Last week, Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, raised the alarm against Iran’s support for insurgents. He told the Pentagon Press Association, “Iran is very directly supporting extremist Shiite groups, which are killing our troops. There is no question they are shipping high-tech weapons in there … that are killing our people. And the forensics prove that.”

The only thing more surprising would be to find that
BATF was supplying Iran with weapons in order to find
out where they went.

More like they've finally admitted the one-sided war they're waging against the USA.

We should have taken Iran out ages ago, but instead DC has had a gutless hands-off policy with that monstrosity of a regime for decades. Even Warren Christopher said that Iran was the most significant state sponsor of terrorism (back in 1994), and neither major party responded to that . . .

Gee Leon, How about the weapons they are supplying to Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Libya.

They have their fingers in ever war like pie in the Middle east and you are disturbed about Iraq?

I wouldn’t worry too much ,in fact Obama probably endorses it.

Paging SEAL Team Six.

Time for the Iranians to have another serious safety lapse at one of their big munitions plants run by the Pasdaran.

Hey Rambo, haven't you figured out yet that we can't just waltz in and (more importantly) out of these countries at will?

Last week, Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, raised the alarm against Iran’s support for insurgents.

Had to double check the date of the article (14 July 2011) - thought it might've been written back in the 1980s. You know, Iranian backed Hezbollah attacking U.S. marine barracks in Beirut in 1983, killing over 250 Americans, and in 1984 attacking the U.S. Embassy in Lebanon... that sorta 'alarm', which has been ongoing since.

Iran is at war with America since 1979 and Americans have ignored it. This isn’t news to me since the Iranians took the U.S. Embassy in Tehran.

In 2011, with numerous Iranian sponsored attacks worldwide and with thousands of American service personnel and citizens killed, “official” Washington, DC finally figures THIS out?!?!

Good grief, what alternative dimension or quadrant of the universe do these people live?

...newly confirmed Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta strongly denounced Iranian support for increasingly violent Shiite militia groups in that country... "We're seeing more of those weapons going in from Iran, and they've really hurt us." Mr. Panetta pledged that America would take action against Iran's provocations. "We cannot sit back and simply allow this to continue to happen... This is not something we're going to walk away from. It's something we're going to take on head-on."
..."And the way we're going to take it on is by running, not walking, running, from Afghanistan. Those Iranian weapons and the way they hurt us is the only reason we're pulling out. Good luck to [Zero]'s successors in any kind of warfare from here on out." And then Panetta just laughed.

Zero's finally getting around to doing something about Iran -- probably 72 hours of gentle bombing of oat fields and pistachio farms, followed by nothing -- in order to get a debt ceiling agreement.

The proper public Pubbie response should then be, this may be an impeachable offense, but Zero is a Demwit Party problem -- if the Demwits want another Obama War and to lift the debt ceiling, they'll have to repeal Zerocare, end of story. If they don't want to do that, then they're the party of warmongering as well as the party of crippling federal deficits, massive tax increases, and -- this is the best part, because they've got a long history of wanting this -- renewal of the draft.

Did someone get lost on the way to democraticunderground . . . ?

You could be on to something, though — maybe the problem is waltzing versus actually fighting. Politically correct wars (and in the case of Iraq and Afghanistan, sharia-compliant wars) always end up in quagmires. Also, never underestimate the power of unfettered left-wing anti-war propaganda campaigns.

Yeah, they "figured it out" even after numerous public statements by DC denizens including Bill Clinton's secretary of state Warren Christopher. The Iranian propaganda machine has been predicting the "last helicopter" scenario for both Iraq and Afghanistan for a good few years running.

What's hilarious is that the only war that leftists will acknowledge was needed to be fought (WWII) had the equivalent of $4.5 trillion (2011 dollars) spent on it, but once the wars in the middle east hit the $1 trillion mark, that's suddenly too much dinero . . .
