(Reuters) - California Governor Jerry Brown signed into law on Monday a bill allowing illegal immigrants to receive privately funded scholarships to attend the state's public colleges and universities.

The bill, dubbed the California Dream Act, passed the state Legislature earlier this month and aims at helping illegal immigrants who have earned a high school diploma after attending at least three years of high school in the state.

"At the end of the day, if we're going to continue as a powerful, equal-opportunity society, we're going to have to invest in our people," Brown, a Democrat, said at the signing ceremony in the library of a Los Angeles community college.

The state law is named after a national bill introduced in Congress last year to give young, undocumented immigrants who have lived in the United States for at least five years a path to citizenship through college or military service.

"At the end of the day, if we're going to continue as a powerful, equal-opportunity society, we're going to have to invest in our people," Brown, a Democrat,...

There ya' have it, the dogma of the democrat party, illegal aliens are "our people".

Why not? Its not as though there's a shortage of money here in CA.

Leftwing sh*t-for-brains politicians will break us all.

Brown is referring to "our people" which, in this case, EXCLUDES AMERICANS.

Sorry Jer', but after the Revolution and Recovery of California to the Union, you will have to be disposed of properly like every other traitor.

american taxpayers pay for what their families do not have access to;

your out-of-state nephew or niece pays out-of-state tuition

while your illegals pay in-state.

It means the law is for thee and me, not for them.

What logic is behind a ‘act that allows a ‘private’ entity to pay someone to break the law, and hurt citizens, without any consequence?

What other ‘private’ entities are allowed to pay people to break the law without consequence? Is a drug cartel a private entity? Can they pay illegals with loyalty to them and Mexico, to become attorneys and book keepers for them, on the California taxypayer dime? We know the cartels are opening offices in San Diego and places north. They’ll need attorneys and book keepers and other office help. How much money is Jerry Indonesian Oil Brown getting from them to sign this piece of treason to the idea of equal justice?

Correction. It is not stupidity, it is corruption inflamed by Marxism or global communism, take your pick.

It is not stupid, it is purposefully destructive.

“At the end of the day, if we’re going to continue as a powerful, equal-opportunity society, we’re going to have to invest in our people,”

I absolutely agree with this statement. But I don’t believe that illegals fall under the catagory of “our people”

I live in MD too. This sh*tbag of a law was passed AGAINST the expressed wishes of about 70% of MD citizens ...

O'Malley is gonna be exposed for the punk he is after this gets turned down by the voters ...

AND, Casa de Maryland is gonna look REALLY foolish when the courts throw out their challenge to the petition ...

That's how I read it as well.

If you are an illegal alien and you have lived anywhere in the US illegally for five years you get California in state tuition, but if you are a US Citizen and you have lived anywhere else in the US but California you have to pay out of state tuition to attend a UC University.

WOW

This is a tax on Californians - out of state tuition helps keep in state tuition at an affordable level.

If California starts importing illegal aliens to attend UC Universities they will have raise in state tuition by a large margin.

The net result will be to really degrade the quality of a UC education. This will not concern California politicians one bit because they have already degraded the value of a California K-12 education and they are very proud of their destruction of their K-12 system.

mexicans have degraded the colleges and universities of california.

the union public schools have passed along kids that are not ready for collegiate study.

what was it recently? an article that 90% of berkeley freshmen need remedial studies?

many of the community colleges are attempting to revisit junior high and high education.

it’s a mess.

meanwhile, as we agreed above, the invaders enjoy educational privileges that the tax payers themselves cannot have.

This SOB.

The people of the State of California voted in 1994 to never have this. That will of the people was overwhelming, and his buddies - Gray Davis and the Reconquista Mexicans - managed to stage a coup and overthrow the law by a questionable legal trick.

Davis was recalled mostly because of that.

And this guy thinks he can just spit in California's face?

Bye bye, Jerry Geezer. Between this and "Gay Pride Studies", you're gone.

Recall Now.
