Obama Set to Give Jobs Speech on Same Night as GOP Debate

President Obama on Wednesday pulled rank on the Republican presidential candidates, announcing a key jobs speech next week on the same night as a GOP 2012 primary debate in California.

The two-hour debate, at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, was supposed to start at 8 p.m. on Sept. 7. In his letter to congressional leaders Wednesday, Obama requested to speak before a joint session of Congress at the very same time.

...

The White House insisted the timing was coincidental. Press Secretary Jay Carney told reporters there were many scheduling "considerations" and suggested the president has no interest in detracting from the debate viewership.

He said the administration would "welcome" a decision by debate hosts to "adjust the timing of their debate so that it didn't conflict."

“He said the administration would “welcome” a decision by debate hosts to “adjust the timing of their debate so that it didn’t conflict.”

Obamas’ audience will consist of journalists at NPR, NYT and CNN. That’s about it.

Boehner should offer the 6th, 8th, 9th or 10th.

If obama insists on the 7th, offer 8:00 Am.

He’s a freakin coward.

He can’t afford to have any of his people accidentally hearing any republican intelligence.

Since Bachmann is a member of the Congress he is calling to session, you’d think that tiny item might have been noticed.

Even the Washington Post is saying that the WH is lying...that this was definitely on purpose and that any denials are out and out BS.

Nah, go for it, O, on the 7th.

Then, every GOP debate participant should load up on what a crock the Pres. speech is and, one by one, tell the debate why this President is such a loser.

Couldn’t be a better platform and heightened interest to bring this cock-a-too down.

Yep, just move the debate back an hour or so and let IT be the official Republican response.

In fact, they could split screen it, showing Obama giving his speech and all the Republican candidates on stage, pointing at a TV screen and laughing at everything he says.

Obama's crack 'tropical storm' response team...now sets up his MSM to address our weary, disinterested, buyer's remorse nation...
They chase Sarah here...
They stalk her there...
Those libtards follow her everywhere.
Will she run?
or not...they grouse
They don't want Sarah, in the White House

Who wants to watch 0bama’s campaign speech? What network wants to lose audience share by pre-empting regular programming? There probably will be some good baseball games on at that time.

Well, on a serious note, I’m wondering what the pres. has up his sleeve. More Porkulus? Some liberals say that Porkulus failed because $800 billion wasn’t enough spending to jump start the economy.

But then Obama himself said that we didn’t know that the shovel ready jobs weren’t really shovel ready, or words to that effect. So another Porkulus seems doomed, esp. with Republicans in control of the House.

I heard somebody speculate he would bring back something like the WPA public works program from the Depression days. But that too would cost lots of money we don’t have.

I’m all ears..............

So when I read the thread title I’m thinking, the President is going to honor former Apple CEO, Steve Jobs.

Then it occured that if Steve is healthy enough, he should be the one giving a jobs speech. He’s the one who is generating the revenue side of the government spend equation. He did it largely without government grants, jawboning or promotion.

Perhaps Steve Jobs (or sucessor) should schedule a press conference at the same hour by coincidence?
