NEW YORK (AP) -- The developer of an Islamic cultural center that opened Wednesday evening near the site of the terrorist attacks that leveled the World Trade Center says the biggest error on the project was not involving the families of 9/11 victims from the start.
People crowded into the center, where a small orchestra played traditional Middle Eastern instruments and a photo exhibit of New York children of different ethnicities lined the walls. The enthusiasm at the opening belied its troubled beginnings.

Pointing to the inclusivity of a center that critics feared would be polarizing, El-Gamal noted that the featured photographer in the "NYChildren" exhibit is Danny Goldfield, who is Jewish.
The Brooklyn photographer was inspired to create the exhibit by the story of Rana Sodhi, a Sikh who emigrated from India and settled in Arizona. His brother Balbir was killed in a retaliatory hate crime four days after Sept. 11.

The Shia and the Sunni are going through the kind of thing that Catholics and Protestants went through 3 or 4 Centuries ago. The reason why our founding fathers voted for a secular government.
I agree that the Shia and the Sunni are frequently fighting each other, but I very much doubt that the end result will be anything resembling the religious toleration in the US Constitution.

Exactly. Catholics and Protestants fought, but what they had in common was their hypocrisy over the teachings of Christ. Eventually, those teachings forced non-violence upon the factions through the learning and spiritual development of Christians themselves.
Islam has no such fundamental teachings, but quite the reverse - teachings of murder for those who don't believe. For this reason, Islam is, in fact, doomed. It is a virus that eats its host, and then eats itself. The ONLY reason it has grown powerful in the last 50 years is it's financial and political support from Western saboteurs of their own countries. And the only question is how long before it destroys itself, and how many people have to die before it meets its end.
What Muslims don't realize is that the same people who are using them as weapons to crush Western freedom will, if that should ever succeed, wipe them out just as ruthlessly. Their delusions of somehow overcoming their financial and political masters are just that - delusions.

I gotta say, once Judeo-Christian civilization has been done away with, as between the Neo-Marxist totalitarians and the Islamo-fascists, I wouldn't bet against the Islamo-fascists if they have developed an arsenal of nuclear weapons. They are perfectly capable of waiting until the proper moment and then using their nuclear arsenal with absolutely no hesitation or mercy.

When you look ino the background od this group of mosque promoters, it leads back to the UN's Alliance of Civilizations and Dialogue of Civilizations crowd, not to some "fundamentalist" Islamic types. And you're right- they are using Islam, even fundamentalist Islam as a tool, and they intend to discard the true religious aspects of it when they are done, keeping only the shell which they can then use to hammer those who maintain a faith in Allah rather than All-Powerful Government. Leftists have used co-opted fake Christianity to chip away at western values for decades, now they are doing it to the traditional values of the arab world, too. The AoC objective was to create a "useful form of Islam" just like the liberation theology crap imposed upon the Christian denominations in the 70s and 80s to hammer those who maintain a faith in Christ.
