AUSTIN (KXAN) - An old foe is lashing out at Gov. Rick Perry, as he continues his campaign for president. Debra Medina - a GOP opponent in 2011's gubernatorial race - and a handful of tea party activists pointed out what they call “crony capitalism” formed under Perry's reign in Texas.
"Michele Bachmann got it right. Gov. Perry's executive order was driven on money, not driven on good policy,” Medina said Thursday at the State Capitol.

I’ve never seen a candidate crash and burn that fast. They were talking of having to do a run-off! She was making some people sweat in both Perry and KayBailey’s camp until that interview.
It says something when Glenn Beck can make you look crazy. It says something else about GOP in Texas when a women such as her can rise up to such prominence.
Does she still hold to her belief that 9-11 was an inside job?
I had a meeting in my home with Ms Medina. The invited guests donated quite liberally to her campaign, as they were very impressed by what she said.
I was really sick and disgusted when she went ‘round the bend. I just could not believe that she did that. That totally did it for me..............
For you Medina detractors, it’s nice to see you using neo-liberal tactics. When you can’t defend the message, attack the messenger. Nice.
Her rise was partly, if not largely, due to the fact that Perry isn’t a Conservative and he will always be vulnerable to a candidate to his right in a primary. Had Medina not turned out to be a 9/11 Truther nutter, she might very well have taken him down.
She was unprepared for that question, and that unpreparedness cost her. Personally, I liked her idea of no property taxes. It would mean that we actually own our properties.
It really says somethign about the TX GOP when they can't push someone who would win with better than 38%.
Medina is no different fron ronpaul, they KNOW they’ll never get elected to Dog Catcher running as libertarians, so they sneak in as GOP.
Wasn’t just GB interview, although it was the Coup de Gras, she took a nosedive in that last debate. Sort of reminds of Bachmann running mouth not running brain, REPEATEDLY.

Get real. At no time will I ever give any sympathy to anyone who believes this un-American BS. These people deserve to be instantly discredited and ridiculed on it.
There are 58 Perry detractors a minute coming out of TX anymore. It is not like there are not any credible people to work with if your goal is to take Perry down. Wise up. Truthers are not to be listened to.

After that, Beck politely thanked Medina for appearing on his program and dismissed her future political hopes.
“I think I can write her off the list,” he said. “Let me take another look at [candidate] Kay Bailey Hutchison, if I have to.”
“Rick, I think you and I could French kiss right now,” he said of Texas’s current governor, Rick Perry who is running for re-election.
“Wow,” Beck continued. “Wow. The fastest way back to four percent,” he said of Medina’s one-time standing in the polls. A recent survey showed her only four points behind Hutchison with 24 percent of the vote.

If we could get a proper political outsider with a brain and business smarts to step up. For a women like Medina to come out of nowhere against the Perry machine and the Bush backed KBH was amazing. If only someone (car dealer, real estate, oilman, football star, war vet etc.) else had given it a go that year.
I do not need to hear, or believe Ms. Medina, or her charges, to form a view opposing Perry.
His position on state entitlement subsidies for college tuition for illegal immigrants has nothing to do with any Conservative government principles. It’s mere pandering to illegal Mexican nationals which he has frequently done in Texas.
The moral outrage is not that it is “heartless” to NOT subsidize higher education for people who are here illegally, at the same level as is done for citizens and other legal residents.
The moral outrage is to give moral equivalency between illegal residents and LEGAL immigrants alone, with anything the state has to offer anyone.
Every act that provides that equivalency is a moral outrage that asks the LEGAL immigrant: “Why were you such an idiot. There was no need for you to go through the law to obtain your residency here, and it’s benefits. Why were you so stupid, when so many people are like Perry and willing to hand over benefits to anyone, legally here or not, if it will buy them votes in an election.”
The people that Perry is “heartless” against are the honest legal immigrants who are cheated the most, morally cheated, by him, and others, with their willingness to be bend the rules to buy votes.
Their pandering for votes spits on LEGAL immigrants and tells them they were fools, to waste their efforts at being legal when all would be available to them anyway. Rightfully, they feel cheated by people like Perry. What they followed the law to achieve by law is just given away. It’s a crime.

I remember the more I found out about her stances to more I liked what I heard I just wasn’t convinced she knew politics very well. Austin is a strange town especially for someone outside of the powerful political networks. Her power would come from keeping people mad at the status quo allowing her to shake things up.
Then she goes and loses all the people in one fell swoop just as Texans were preparing to vote.
Michael Williams should’ve run. A charismatic Black Conservative and former member of the TX Railroad Commission (who ran and won statewide).
