Yeah, I’d rather a conservative who pretended to be a liberal to get elected in Massachusetts, than a liberal who pretended to be a conservative in Texas.

They both will say whatever they think will get them elected, but Romney is chasing after the tea parties, with talk of support for E-Verify, etc., while Perry is chasing after the corporate bosses by assuring the pipeline of slave-level workers, and socialist drones.

Federal law may say that but multiple courts, including the 10th Circuit, have ruled no student has standing to sue because that right wasn't included in the law.

Earlier this year, SCOTUS declined to review a case over CA in-state tuition based on that same statute.

It seems the feds would have to sue the states.

Perry supporters: This is simple, pay out of state tuition.

If that is too confusing, I can’t help you, nobody can help you. You’re trying to complicate the issue.

Is this the only thing that is dividing us here?

I don’t want to educate them, period. But it is the law. A bastardization of the law but it is what it is.

They’re illegal. Cut off all taxpayer goodies and they will deport themselves. I know that that flies in the face of those who are benefitting from their cheap labor. Too bad. They are unscrupulous businesses maximizing their profits by socializing the costs. What is Conservative about that?

All good points! All you have to do is look at what kids are in our kindergartens. We are surrendering this country to an alien culture, the Hispanic culture mostly but other 3rd world cultures too. Americans got soft and stupid and this is what we get. We did not get after our globalist politicians who approve of immigration invasions and free trade with predator nations. The short story is Americans have lost their pride in America and this has been going on since the 1970s.

People who have pride in their nation do not allow it to be invaded

Thanks, but I already knew that. I posted the law because I wanted to point out that federal law prohibits giving instate tuition to ILLEGAL aliens, be it in Texas or here in California. I am aware that the feds would have to sue the states just as the Obama admin. did Arizona regarding S.B. 1070.

I can understand the liberals in the liberal state of California violating federal law in order to pander to the Latino population but what I don't understand is why people calling themselves 'conservatives' would do so in the state of Texas.

Actually, the Texas law violates federal law.

Federal law passed in 1996 prohibits illegal aliens from receiving in-state tuition rates at public institutions of higher education. Specifically, Section 505 of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 (Title 8, Chapter 14, Sec. 1623(a)) states: "an alien who is not lawfully present in the United States shall not be eligible on the basis of residence within a State (or a political subdivision) for any postsecondary education benefit unless a citizen or national of the United States is eligible for such a benefit (in no less an amount, duration, and scope) without regard to whether the citizen or national is such a resident."

Wow ! I hadn’t heard about the EBT vote buying. That’s despicable.

People who claim illegals aren’t bleeding the welfare systems because they aren’t “eligible” obviously haven’t heard this either.

Well first off I’m not a Perry supporter I’m a fan of the man Herman Cain, I’m also a life long resident of Texas going on 60 years. I’ve went through allot of Governors over the years and they’ve all had one thing in common, insufficient funding, insufficient manpower and no support from the Federal Gov who’s job it is to protect our borders. Until those are changed no Governor will be able to do anything about the illegals crossing the borders. As far as offering in state tuition I’ve no problem with it as long as they qualify and seek citizenship, It cost us nothing and goes along way in keeping another gang banger from hanging with his homie’s on the streets of Texas.

none-issue. ....Build the fence...arm the Border patrols...and give them the right to shoot those who cross illegally.... Problem solved.

Do you have any idea who applies for that money and where it’s designated to go? Can you tell me how much of that money went to border security?
