On the run in Britain, the Albanian spy chief facing extradition over torture

Ilir Kumbaro is wanted for torture and kidnapping in Albania. An arrest warrant has been issued for him after he failed to appear in a London court today

A former Albanian spy chief wanted for torture and kidnapping was on the run yesterday after failing to appear at an extradition hearing in London.

Ports and airports were put on alert after 58-year-old Ilir Kumbaro did not turn up at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, where he faced being sent back to Eastern Europe.

The Daily Mail has learned that despite Kumbaro being regarded as ‘clever and resourceful’, his bail conditions did not include any order for him to wear an electronic tag.

Instead, after associates had put up a surety of £10,000, he was told he had to report regularly to a police station while living in Forest Hill, south-east London.

Three months ago, this newspaper revealed how Kumbaro was able to seek asylum and live on benefits in Britain for almost 15 years by using a false identity.

The former secret service chief was granted indefinite leave to remain in the UK by pretending he was a Kosovan refugee called Shaqa Shatri when he arrived in August 1996.

Kumbaro, his wife and son then settled down to live in a council flat in Fulham.

His stay here would have remained undetected had he not foolishly used his real name when making a claim for incapacity benefit, thereby alerting the authorities.

Because they are in the EU and thus have no control over their borders. Since all these people speak English and London is Europe’s NYC, it is the natural haven.

Also keep in mind this is a a primary reason that 66% of the English want out of the EU. The other reason is the EU labor laws make them noncompetitive.

"Kosovan refugee called Shaqa Shatri when he arrived in August 1996"

1996? So when did Albanians start getting "refugee" status before the war in 1999? Looks like the stupid EU was giving blanket "refugee" status to any idiot claiming to be a muslim.

“Because they are in the EU and thus have no control over their borders. Since all these people speak English and London is Europe’s NYC, it is the natural haven.”

The truth is quite the opposite. I suggest you google ‘schengen agreement’ which will show you how the UK is not part of the EU open borders policy and in fact has stricter border controls than the US. Anyone can travel freely within the schengen area without border checks, but to pass from the schengen area to the UK you must pass through strict international border checks and possess a relevant visa where necessary.

As for how they get here, well we are 22 miles from France and we have 7760 miles of coastline. Rather like the US border with Mexico, borders are only as strong as their weakest point.

THis is all BS. NATO funded, armed, trained, supported these terrorists and they STILL DO. Bet me any money this guy will get a slap on the wrist not unlike Nasir Oric did who was responsible for the cold blooded murder of hundreds of Serbs.

This is a show for Serbs to think the empire is being even handed. Enjoy your meal.

Thanks Ravnagora.
The former secret service chief was granted indefinite leave to remain in the UK by pretending he was a Kosovan refugee called Shaqa Shatri [fleeing Serb persecution] when he arrived in August 1996... His stay here would have remained undetected had he not foolishly used his real name when making a claim for incapacity benefit, thereby alerting the authorities.
Seems a little weird that this joker was accepted as a Muzzie refugee in 1996, never worked since then, been on the dole fifteen years, and yet halfway through his paid vacation his extradition was asked for by Albania. Almost as if his location wasn't all that secret. The extradition was denied because it was applied for in 2004 and had expired.
