ABC News’ Jake Tapper and Luis Martinez report:

Two days ago President Obama authorized the deployment to Uganda of approximately 100 combat-equipped U.S. forces to help regional forces “remove from the battlefield” – meaning capture or kill – Lord’s Resistance Army leader Joseph Kony and senior leaders of the LRA.

The forces will deploy beginning with a small group and grow over the next month to 100. They will ultimately go to Uganda, South Sudan, the Central African Republic, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, with the permission of those countries.

The president made this announcement in a letter to House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, Friday afternoon, saying that “deploying these U.S. Armed Forces furthers U.S. national security interests and foreign policy and will be a significant contribution toward counter-LRA efforts in central Africa.”

"saying that “deploying these U.S. Armed Forces furthers U.S. national security interests"

Exactly how does this further U.S. national security interests. Do we trade anything with Uganda? Are they a regional partner with us? Enquiring minds want to know.

Joseph Kony is a monster - but this is a misuse of our precious warriors.

What a complete fool and idiot. He has effectively condemned 100 brave Americans to death in the jungles of Africa. Mega-Moron!!

It doesn’t further U.S. interests. Uganda DOES border Kenya, so think bloodlines.

“Let me first state what I understand to be your position. It is, that if it shall become necessary, to repel invasion, the President may, without violation of the Constitution, cross the line and invade the territory of another country; and that whether such necessity exists in any given case, the President is to be the sole judge. .. But…: Allow the President to invade a neighboring nation, whenever he shall deem it necessary to repel an invasion, and you allow him to do so, whenever he may choose to say he deems it necessary for such purpose - and allow him to make war at pleasure…. If, to-day, he should choose to say he thinks it necessary to invade Canada, to prevent the British from invading us, how could you stop him? You may say to him, ‘I see no probability of the British invading us’ but he will say to you ‘be silent; I see it, if you don't.’

“The provision of the Constitution giving the war-making power to Congress, was dictated, as I understand it, by the following reasons. Kings had always been involving and impoverishing their people in wars, pretending generally, if not always, that the good of the people was the object. This our Convention understood to be the most oppressive of all Kingly oppressions; and they resolved to so frame the Constitution that no one man should hold the power of bringing this oppression upon us. But your view destroys the whole matter, and places our President where kings have always stood.” - Rep. Abraham Lincoln (R-IL)

Just why in the hell are we placing our troops in danger in a third world cesspool when there are plenty of nations in Africa capable of doing that job?

Congress needs to give this Moron acting as President a deadline to get those troops out of there. This mission is not in the national interests of the United States anymore than the fiasco in Egypt or Libya for that matter.

100 combat-equipped U.S. forces to help regional forces

Translation.....100 members of the Special Operations Community, probably Army Special Forces, given that one of their main task’s is Foreign Internal Defense. To go and solve someone else’s problem. Hmmmmmm!!!!!

Another translation....lets send 100 highly trained and experienced men to a true 3rd World country in every sense, to seek out and kill what is nothing but a bunch of unskilled, untrained, Khat eating savages. I work around Ugandans all day, every day. If people knew and acknowledged what their society is like, from what I’ve seen, they wouldn’t send anyone.

But we’re afraid to take on the Iranians, Russians and China in their support of the carnage in Syria. Of course, once the GI’s are done, with this guys head on a stick, it’ll be.....I AIN’T AFRAID TO USE OUR MILITARY. I AIN’T NO APPEASER.

Idi Obama has to get his next gig lined up in case he can’t pull off stealing this election.

Getting his own personal army in place and killing the opposition must be the first order of business.

This is not what we fund our armed forces for. This is not what young Americans enlist for. This is not authorized in our Constitution, nor in any sense equivalent to one of our actions in the Cold War, where the real mission was to defend America.

Moreover, the idea that Americans can be sent into jungle combat for no reason but the whim of a would be dictator, seeking to build some form of Marxist influenced redistributive "World Order," is a real morale killer for those who have signed up to defend America, her Constitution & heritage.

Congress needs to make certain that this sort of adventure is not authorized in the Defense or any other budget. This sort of intrusion into other nations' civil wars, where we have no legitimate issue, has been considered unacceptable in international affairs for centuries. But, of course, those who do not respect American sovereignty would not be likely to respect anyone else's.

(And yes, respecting other nation's sovereignty means letting them defend against their own guerrilla movements.)

The so-called “Lord’s Resistance Army” is basically a large drug fueled gang which uses children as “soldiers” and whose only policy is to loot, rape, murder and destroy.
