A police officer reaches out to help a homeless man and his dogs.

St. Louis, MO - A few days ago, Police Officer Cheryl Goede responded to a call about a "suspicious vehicle".

When Goede arrived, she found a man sitting in a vehicle along with his two, adult German shepherds.

It took some prodding, but Officer Goede eventually found out the true reason behind that the man was in the car with the two, large dogs.

Not long ago, the man lost his job.

After losing his job, he lost his home.

With nowhere to go, and nowhere for his companion dogs, the man took up "residence" in his vehicle - sadly, the place they had called home for over a month.

The man grudgingly admitted his embarrassment over the situation.

Little did he know that the woman he was speaking with is much more than an officer of the law.

Unfortunately in the Obama economy, the German Shepherd rescue I volunteer for have many stories of people who lost their jobs and homes and were living in their cars rather give up their German Shepherds.

Mr. Hawk deserves a big thumbs up for not giving up his dogs.
