Glen Beck Vigorously Insisting Mormans are Christians.
ROCKLOBSTER

Posted on 02/22/2012 3:28:43 PM PST by ROCKLOBSTER

This morning Glen Beck was discussing "what is a Christian" and used the full title of the LDS Church as proof they are Christians, not some whacked out cult based on a modern day "prophet".

He also spoke of how Soros thinks of himself as a god.

As a disclaimer, every member of that church that I've ever met was a clean living, humble and generous person...but that doesn't make them Christians.

Hey Glen!

Weren't you planning on becoming a "god" of your very own planet? Or not, what's up with that?

Aren't Mormon women in the afterlife supposed to be eternally pregnant?

How about the 6' tall inhabitants of the Sun and Moon?

And what about the planet Kolob Glen?

This doesn't sound like New Testament Christianity to me.

That's because isn't - it is American neognosticism.

He was twisting around trying to sell that he is a Christian. Baptizing the dead didn’t seem to come up in his argument.

Glenn went on and on that you could tell if one was a Christian by their works. There a a number of Atheist on Free Republic that are as good and conservative as any Spirit fill Christin that I know. He just doesn't get it.

The mormon founders (in violation of fraternal oaths) stole the masonic handshakes, passwords, and whatnot and turned fraternity rituals into a religion.

As a mason and a Christian -— and pissed that they give confuddule our fraternity into their cult -— I like to mess with mormons by giving them their super-secret handshakes.

Completely messes with their minds, and gives me the opportunity to tell them about what frauds their founders were.

Simple question then. Why do they feel the need to do proxy baptisms of dead Christians of other denominations.

I find that practice to be an abomination.

It isn't. But I lost interest in designating some people Christian and some not. Let Jesus sort it out. He knows who has a right relationship with Him and who is going to hear, "I never knew you" at the judgement. He knows when people have been genuinely misled, when they're selfish and blind, when they've acknowledged Him as Lord and Redeemer Who died for their sins, when their faith is but a show, and when they've spent their lives trying to serve and love Him, though mistaken about the facts. It's beyond me to determine. God knows many on this forum accuse me of not being a real Christian and spit invective at me, and as I ask them to leave the decision about my faith to Christ, I'm going to try to leave the decision about Mormons to Him, too.

Oh for Pete’s Sake, give it a rest!

I am so tired of these Mormon threads.

I don’t have an oar in this but for Pete’s sake, who really cares?

If your deed is to convince people that you are a Christian, then there is something wrong there.

The whole kerfluffle began with Mitt Romney trying to enhance his prospects of election.

Prior to that point, both Mormon and Christian agreed, that Mormons are Mormons. Their own founders refuted the notion.

They are people of the book, just as Jews, Christians and Muslims are. They’re about as Christian, as Christians are Jews.

That’s the fairest answer. They are closely associated with Christianity but have gone well beyond it.

Any religion that doesn’t believe in salvation and forgiveness of all your sins by the blood of Jesus Christ is not Christian and a cult. Sorry Glen, love you but you are not a Christian but a believer in a false prophet.

Pray for America

A year or so ago, on his radio show, I heard Beck refer to one’s spouse as one’s “eternal spirit companion.” That is Mormon doctrine. It is not Christian, and in fact, denies what the Bible says about marriage in heaven.

I am NOT a Mormon; but all of my step-family is. I grew up a Methodist, and still am, but I grew up in close proximity to the LDS Church.

While I personally find their theology more than a little strange, I have no doubt they are Christians.

It used to be Mormons were proud of the fact they weren’t Christians. I wish they would stay that way.

I had a cousin who was into "Christian Science". They are not Christians. They reject the atonement of the cross, like Mormons. Mormons believe that Jesus atoned for our sin in the garden at Gethsemane, in stark cnntrast to what the Bible teaches.
And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of the ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing to his cross. And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it. (Colossians 2:13-15)

The crucifixion is the center of the gospel. It is atested in all four of the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John). It is not a secretive shedding of blood in sweat in the garden at Gethsemane. Further the Bible doesn't even say he sweated blood. "and his sweat was as it were great drops of the blood..." (Luke 22:44). as it were introduces a simile (like/as). He didn't sweat blood. He shed his precious blood on the cross.

"For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness, but unto to us are saved it is the power of God." (1 Corinthians 1:18)

What Mormons believe about the cross.

I've never seen one before, so why do you keep reading them?

I don’t have an oar in this but for Pete’s sake...

Well neither do I

...who really cares?

Hardcore Christians. There are plenty of other traditional religions around that are not Christian and don't claim or pretend to be.
