A year ago, President Obamas re-election team bragged about raising One Beel-yun Dollars, in an effort to cow Republicans. Several prospective candidates begged off including Haley Barbour and Mitch Daniels. But now, the Obama campaign has taken back its claim (we never said that, they say with Baghdad Bob inflection) and the campaign is even cutting off Democrats.
Incredibly, an incumbent White House team is now struggling to raise money despite its intense ability and willingness to use the power of the federal government to attack those who do not play along. Corporate executives no longer line up to pay to play.
The money people realize the shoo-in is about to get the boot.
From the White House Ho, Politico:
"President Barack Obama has a bleak message for House and Senate Democrats this year when it comes to campaign cash: Youre on your own. Democratic congressional leaders, including Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, have privately sought as much as $30 million combined from Obama for America and the Democratic National Committee a replay of the financial help they received from Obama in 2008 and 2010.
"But thats not going to happen, top Obama aides Jim Messina and David Plouffe told Reid and Pelosi in back-to-back meetings on Capitol Hill on Thursday, according to sources familiar with the high-level talks. It was a stark admission from a presidential campaign once expected to rake in as much as $1 billion of just how closely it is watching its own bottom line.
"Messina and Plouffe told the two Hill leaders that there would be no cash transfers to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee from OFA or the DNC, at least not before Election Day, the sources said."

The jig is up!
Broke? Nonsense. There’s plenty of stimulus money that’s STILL unaccounted for. You can bet at least a billion will find it’s way back to obammy and his fellow travelers.
Clinton did the same thing to House and Senate Dems in 96. He controlled the DNC cash cow and would not let the others in on the stash. I remember House Minority Leader begging Clinton to send some money to the House campaigns and Clinton told him flat out no..........
well, stump broke, maybe........
The direct campaign donations will be a small fraction of the money spent to complete the economic enslavement of this country.
Whatever happens, “O” amd Mo will walk away from the WH with their pockets STUFFED to the max.
Conunt on it!
You might want to reconsider you choice of words. An the appropriate adjective is down, not up.
A link for anyone doubting the remaining Stim money, from Sept. ‘11:
Could congress lockup that money?
And that’s really the point, isn’t it? ‘Progressives’ are masters at linking their ambitions to their opponents’ checkbooks. So we (the productive citizens) are compelled to fund the enemies of our way of life through our taxes - organizations we detest such as ACORN, ACLU, Planned Parenthood, NEA, and a myriad of others are given the right to place their hands in our pockets, whilst we must pony up additional contributions to any organization which actually represents our views. And if we voluntarily GIVE more to our organizations, they take more for theirs.
Pretty easy to understand why we’ve lost the culture wars for 50 years with these rules. Hard to win when you’ve agreed to limitless financing for the opposition.
From the article:
“The big money is going to Republicans. Like Karl Rove or not, he has raised $300 million for his Super PAC money that will be used to help whoever the Republicans nominate, or as I like to call him President TBA. (To Be Announced.)”
MAybe Rove will ‘broker’ the convention. Good grief, that’s alot of money to wield.
And let's hope that they leave enough of a paper trail so they can someday be spending time in prison.
Of course, that presupposes that there will be a Republican with cojones inthe WH at some point.
Hi, Nothing to say here, just wanting to know what you mean.
I've used the expression but only now bothered to look it up online. "The jig is up" means, I think, the "dance" is over, or that the deception had ended.
There are other definitions for "jig:" fishing and machining to name two. It's an interesting word, jig.
Are you referring to these contexts? Or am I completely missing your point?
I thought he was gettin' jiggy with it.
I thought I as naive about racial epithets.
