NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Gas prices increased for the third straight day Friday, to an average of $1.626 for a gallon of regular unleaded gas, according to motorist group AAA. That's nearly a one-cent jump from the previous day's average of $1.618.

The price of gas is down by nearly 20 cents from the prior month's average of $1.803, and prices are off by nearly 47%, or $3.052 from this time a year ago.

Prices have plummeted along with the price of crude oil, the main ingredient in gas. Oil has shed more than $100 a barrel since July, and gas prices have followed suit, sinking by more than 60%, or nearly $2.50 since reaching a July high of $4.114 a gallon.

When will someone remind Bari what the price of gallon of gas was when he took office?

And now he wants to call 2.00 per gallon a political gimmick, a lie.

Great find.

Now, if we only had a candidate for office who was willing to use Urkel's own words against him and to show just how in-the-tank the left-wing media is for whichever RAT is in need of their cover.

Ah, well, a guy can dream can't he.

Down here in Sue York city it's around $4.17 and near Kennedy airport $4.67 and it's not even summer yet. To say it's going to shoot over $5 bucks is like saying the sun will rise. It will not suprise me in the least if it hits $6 and over by July-August.

But don't worry, Obummer is on it......

Let’s start another international financial crisis and we can get back to under $2 gas again.

I just went to the Grocery Store and paid over $16.00 for a gallon of Best Foods (Hellmans to you folks back East) Mayonnaise.

Prior to the Obama Regime, Mayonnaise was only $12.00 a gallon. Must be the high costs associated with drilling for Eggs and Cooking Oil.

Thanks. I should have checked that out myself because it sounded a little dated.

Just went to the store and noticed that regular gas here is actually down to $3.92, although once the weekend comes, it will go back up. It makes me glad I’m retired, and don’t have to drive to work anymore. My gas consumption has gone way down since then. I last filled my car up on 2/24, and haven’t really driven it much as I had surgery on the 28th. I’ve still got 3/4’s of a tank of gas.

What does that have to do with the price of rice in China?
