It's a 'state dinner' if the president calls it one

There has been some debate -- and consternation among purists – over whether Wednesday’s White House dinner for British Prime Minister David Cameron is technically a “state dinner” because Cameron is not the British head of the state.

True, the queen is the head of state. And Cameron’s visit therefore is not considered a “state visit” but rather an “official visit.” But the dinner is technically a state dinner because the president is hosting it, according to the office of protocol at the State Department.

“When it comes to the dinner, as the chief of state, President Obama is hosting the dinner,” office spokesman Kamyl Bazbaz said.

And the White House Historical Association backed him up. Maria Downs, spokeswoman for the association and social secretary for former president Gerald Ford said, “It’s up to the person who’s president and the first lady to set the guidelines for their administration.”

I’m just sad to see Ohole’s approval at 41% when it should be around 20% tops.

So, if Kamyl Bazbaz says so, then it’s so. LOL

What the heck is a Kamyl Bazbaz? Is that pronounced “camel”. He must really miss home.

Grabbing a couple of hot dogs and an order of nachos while attending the sucktacular Mississippi Valley State vs. Western Kentucky is also a state dinner.

The radio today is full of "Obama is coming to town so drive to avoid the motorcade and don't bring your gun to the game" announcements.

When obama and the first moocher sit down with a bucket of wings, two 6-packs of Colt 45 and a gallon jug of Ripple, for a late night snack, they’re probably sitting at a big table in the Grand Hall, with all-WHITE waiters, all-WHITE Marine guards, all WHITE military band and all-WHITE everything else. It’s an in-your-face thing......”Look at all those WHITE people serving and bowing to me.”

So another “state dinner” (Bush had none after 9/11) so O’bummer and the Mrs. can parade in front of the masses and syncophantic press all their buddies/actors/insiders/lobbyists/fellow socialists and feed them off of our dime...
If Cameron had any guts, after the kind of treatment the Brits have gotten from this admin, he’d bag this and go to Murphy’s in Old Town, Alexandria, and chat up local military dudes and some Irish...

Consider all of the famous people, who never got a dinner, as Red Buttons pointed out:

Adam, who said to God, "I've got more ribs, do you got more broads?"... and said to George Burns, "Dad, can I have my allowance?"... never got a dinner.

Moses, who said to the Children of Israel, "Wear your galoshes, I never did this trick before... and stop calling me Charelton!"... never got a dinner.

Flash Gordon, who said, "No, that's not how I got my name"... never got a dinner.

Amelia Earhart, who said, "Stop looking for me, see if you can find my luggage"... never got a dinner.

Bluebeard, who said to Scottland Yard, "How do I know how many wives I've killed? I'm not an accountant!"... never got a dinner.

Jack the Ripper's mother, who said, "How come I never see you with the same girl twice?"... never got a dinner.

President Jimmy Carter, who said to Pope John Paul II, "Next time bring the missus"... never got a dinner.

King Henry VIII, who said to his lawyer, "Forget the alimony, I've got a better idea"... never got a dinner.

Ray Charles, who said to Stevie Wonder, "Maybe we're white"... never got a dinner.

Doctor Spock, who said, "Never raise your hand to your kids, it leaves your groin unprotected"... never got a dinner.

King Soloman, who said to his thousand wives, "Who hasn't got a headache?"... never got a dinner.

The invisible man's wife, who said, "I don't care if it looks silly, don't stop!"... never got a dinner.

Aladdin, who said to his wife, "I know it's not a lamp, keep rubbing!"... never got a dinner.

Who is surprised at this? He couldn't handle a simple loyal toast to the Queen or even remember what year it was when he was in the UK. Why would this "smartest man in America" know the difference between a state dinner and an official visit?

That's incorrect. President Bush had a White Tie State Dinner for Queen Elizabeth II in 2007 when she visited as part of the 400th Anniversary of the founding of Jamestown and the Virginia Colony. He also had numerous Black Tie State dinners also. Hosting a dinner for a visiting Head of State or Head of Government is just normal diplomatic protocol.

Well, I’m not an expert but I do recall the Bush admin did cut back while troops were in harm’s way...
so if you know differently, I stand corrected...
but you have to agree that there is NO approach by this admin to tone things down while troops are deployed, yes?
