Mitt will do fine
Charleston (WV) Daily Mail ^ | April 5, 2012 | Don Surber

Posted on 04/05/2012 12:05:13 PM PDT by Mustang Driver

The press is circulating Republican-insiders stories again, this time saying Mr. Electable is unelectable.

Don’t buy the latest spin from Democrats. Conservatives should stay calm, cool and collected.

Mitt Romney is the most presidential of Republican nominees since 1988. He looks the part, he acts the part and lives the part. He has worked his way up and made it on his own even though his father was a prominent businessman and successful governor. He is the grown-up in the room whose blandness is a strikingly attractive alternative to the All Trauma Obama presidency. Over the years he has taken progressively more responsible positions — from head of the Mormon mission in France to CEO of Bain Capital — that have built his self-confidence and the trust of others. When people talk about the Republican establishment, they are really talking about the successful people who will make up his government. This is about running a government.

President John McCain? Come on. What were we thinking? OK, the bench was thin. President Bush forgot to develop an heir.

Mitt Romney’s blandness is a plus because he exudes grace under pressure. He gets flustered. But he grins and bears it. This will serve him well in a very ugly campaign, perhaps the ugliest since 1800. We know after 4 years of watching President Obama that he is extremely vulnerable under pressure. He cracks. His temper tantrum against the Supreme Court showed how intellectually empty he is. My goodness, it is unprecedented to have justices turn down a law? Talk about acting stupidly. The pressure must be applied carefully and consistently.

Romney's biggest problem is Romney.

Oh, the sound bites we are going to hear.

I don’t know whether Mitt is electable or not.

I just know that I’m not voting for someone whose record is pro-SodomyIsMarriage, pro-abortion, pro-SocializedMedicine, anti-gun, and who is not a Christian.

If Obama wins, congressional elections will swing to republicans 2 years later and maybe we can impeach Obama, or block him, or tie him up.

If Romney wins, congressional elections will swing to democrats 2 years later. We will have a GOP-labled Rat President with a Rat congress, and nobody except Tea Party republicans will even attempt to stand in his way.

The media did a pretty good job of keeping Romney’s gaffes from becoming the story during the primary but they won’t miss a comma out of place in the general.

BTW did you know that the great lakes are fresh water and there are no sharks?

LOL

Oh, I am sure that our side is much more determined to prevent another 2008 McCain sleep fest. You can bet that we will come out swinging and countering every bit or propaganda Obama can sling.

Don't forget, Obama has created an unbelievably rich target environment for us to shoot at. Even better, we are much better financed this time around. McCain ran his campaign like a pauper and had no financial ability or executive experience what so ever. That is why we lost in ‘08. McCain also sat on his hands and played dumb.

There is some truth in the article. Romney has done well enough in these primaries to win most. This is despite some major flaws. The fact is, ideology aside, he does look and sound the part. I am frustrated beyond belief he is our nominee but he most likely is.

My biggest argument in this article is the following sentence...it is so incredibly wrong headed it pretty much voids anything else the author said.

When people talk about the Republican establishment, they are really talking about the successful people who will make up his government. This is about running a government.

this is idiotic. The establishment is the complete opposite and do not know how to 'run' a government. This was proven beyond a reasonable doubt in the past 10 years.

Why should I remain calm? Can this guy guarantee that we'll have a chance to toss this anchor that is Romney at the convention?

Romney’s watered down Republicanism will not “fix” anythign and the economy will stagnate and in 2016 we will see another Democrat elected as POTUS.

We need a bold POTUS who can produce results and when they run again in four years they can point to their record and say: Are you better off now than you were 4 years ago? and then the overwhelming response will be a resounding YES!! as it was in 1984 not a lukewarm MAYBE.....

MAYBE gets the otherside elected, YES!! get a reagan style landslide!

I’ll go to the polls looking to replace Debbie Stabenow with a conservative.

Romney is getting a bad rap regarding the car elevator at his “mansion” in La Jolla. It is a beach house, not a mansion. It is not that big and it is on a public street. Anybody can drive right by the house. It is not on a private road or behind a security gate. Parking is very limited in that neighborhood. He wants to tear down the old house and build a new one on the lot. He has a large family and they need more than a two car garage. The only way to park a few cars there is to go underground. The local contractors in San Diego need the work and he will pay with his own money. He is paying tons on property taxes that help the local schools. Compare this to the $10 million dollars of taxpayer money used to fly Moochelle 0bamas fat ass around on her vacations.

Just wait until the media starts vetting Romney, particularly on matters of his religion:

“Mr. Romney, is it boxers, briefs, or magic underwear?”

Romney, should he be elected, will likely be like Dwight Eisenhower, a semi-conservative leader. He will not be a Reagan and hopefully not a Nixon. Typically, he’ll ride the line right between the two and that makes him similar to Eisenhower.

We must be cautious. Eisenhower gave us Earl Warren and William Brennan on the Supreme Court and Potter Stewart wasn’t all that great either.

If Romney is a twist with the winds politician, let’s make sure the winds move in a conservative direction. That means controlling the congress and as many governorships and state legislatures as possible.

I think the issue is not whether Mitt can win, but whether Obama will lose to him by sending panicked voters running in his direction with the type of stupidity we’ve seen out of him in the past couple of weeks.

Mitt Romney is John McCain deja vu all over again, and will achieve the same dismal result against Obama. Forget the Senate majority. The majority in the House is in grave danger. I pray for divine intervention, but it’s beginning to look like the nominee is going to be Romney, and the next President will be Obama..
