“Now that the primary is over, it will be a lot easier for Santorum voters to get behind Romney in the general election than it would have been for Palin given her built in fan base.”

How is that possible? It is a MORTAL SIN on your soul to
vote for a pro-abortion candidate.

Romney is lucky his rival was Santorum, not Palin

Really? I disagree totally. Rick did a solid job challenging Milt, but you know what? We will never know who's right. Only one of these two stood up and took Romney on.

Rick really left the conservatives out to dry.

He will be on Mitt's team to clear up his campaign debt

and to have his clients from KStreet. He couldn’t even fight in PA. Wake up people, he helped Mitt. He may endorse him so be prepared.

Backstabber Romney attacked Gov. Palin for OBAMA in 2008.

The RNME was behind the attacks and THEY LOVE ROMNEY FOR IT.

FLASHBACK:

The McCain/Palin ticket was up ++4 to 10 pts
in some polls, days prior to Election 2008.
So rather than helping the GOP, Romney and
TeamROMNEY and the RNME (Republican National Media Establishment)
decided …to attack Gov. Palin to throw Election2008.

Romney, and the Van der Sloot RNME RINOs for Obama in 2008

Late in October, The American Spectator's The Prowler revealed:
"Former Mitt Romney presidential campaign staffers…
have been involved in spreading anti-Palin spin to reporters, seeking to diminish her standing after the election.
'Sarah Palin is a lightweight, she won't be the first, not even the third, person people will think of when it comes to 2012,'
says one former Romney aide…
'The only serious candidate ready to challenge to lead the Republican Party is Mitt Romney.
"Some former Romney aides were behind the recent leaks to media, including CNN, that Governor Sarah Palin was a 'diva' and was going off message intentionally."

The Palmetto Scoop reported: "One of the first stories to hit the national airwaves was
the claim of a major internal strife between close McCain aides and the folks handling his running mate Sarah Palin."
"I’m told by very good sources that this was indeed the case and that a rift had developed, but it was between Palin’s people and the staffers brought on from the failed presidential campaign of former Gov. Mitt Romney, not McCain aides."
"The sources said nearly 80 percent of Romney’s former staff was absorbed by McCain and these individuals were responsible for what amounts to a premeditated, last-minute sabotage of Palin."
… aides loyal to Romney inside the McCain campaign, said The Scoop, reportedly saw
that Palin would be a serious contender for the Republican nomination in 2012 or 2016, which made her a threat to another presidential quest by Romney.

"These staffers are now out trying to finish her off ….hoping it would ingratiate themselves with Mitt Romney."

"Who's the Palin Leaker from the McCain Campaign?
National Review Online The publication of a Vanity Fair profile of Sarah Palin
appears to have opened old wounds in the McCain campaign.
... the source of the “Diva” leak was Nicolle Wallace’s husband."

"Peeking Out From the McCain Wreckage: Mitt Romney"

"Someone's got to say it: IS MITT ROMNEY RESPONSIBLE FOR OBAMA'S VICTORY?"

"Vanity: Team Romney Sabotaged Palin and Continuing to Do So?"

"Romney Supporters Trashing Palin"

"Romney advisors sniping at Palin?"

Re: Romney Is Lucky

I disagree.

I reluctantly voted for McCain/Palin in 2008.

Soon after, Palin resigned as Governor.

Then she put on a three year political tease - “Maybe I'll run, maybe I won't.”

I saw almost no improvement in Palin’s national leadership skills during that period.

I think Santorum is clearly a better candidate than Palin.

He gave Romney a much tougher fight than Palin would have.

I think of it that the rest of us are unlucky that Romney's rival was Santorum and not Palin.

Anyway, all this armchair quarterbacking does no good because Palin did not enter the race. So I am going to take the dog for a walk and listen to my iPod before I go to work.

I will never vote for Mitt Romney. Let the GOP suffer the wages of their nefarious , elitist work.

Four more years of Obama? Thats what you get even if Mitt Romney is elected president.

They way I see it, its better to have Obama, and at least you have the real national socialist, liberal fascist target. Romney is just a foil for the liberal fascist movement of Obama.

The GOP had the opportunity to invite a real adversary to Obama's nationalist socialism. Instead the RINO GOPers stuck their heads in the sand, and decided to promote the myth that Obama is not UnAmerica, and NOT unqualified pursuant to Article II of the consitution , and NOT a liberal fascist. Doom on them.

The GOP is now sounding its own death nell as a party. Many conservatives will vote for Obama just out of spite, and the GOP deserves it for what they have done.Welcome to the Nationalist Socialist Republic of the United States of America as it morphs into a dictatorship.

Thank you Rick Santorum, and thank you Newt Gingrich for trying.Watch the migration of the wealthy and their capital off shore.Watch our nation turn into something like Zimbabwe, under the tender mercies of the US version of Robert Mugabe.

Tidbit: "Romney loyalists, including 11 members of his family, several key fundraisers, his campaign aides and employees of the private-equity firm he helped create, donated more than $330,000 to Pawlenty since Aug. 14 when he withdrew from the race after a third-place finish in Iowa's straw poll, according to the USA TODAY analysis. The former Minnesota governor endorsed Romney less than a month later." Romney backers help Pawlenty erase campaign debt

Actually Romney’s rivals were NEWT and Santorum. Palin decided not to run. Maybe she understood that this was Romney’s turn. Nobody knows how well she would have done.

People though Perry would do well, but he didn’t.

Well for me the November Election comes down to the Congressional races (where it should have been all along). There is NOT a micron of difference between CZAR B.O. and NOT Romney!

He sat on the sidelines while others were battling CZAR B.O. on every one of the Democrap Socialist initiatives. He was waiting his turn for the sacrificial altar of LIBERAL politics!

His defeat is a disappointment to his supporters, no doubt, but less likely to sting as badly for as many people as a Palin defeat would have.

"That boy is our last hope."
"No. There is another."

Romney is disgusting.

But conservatives did not have a solid, viable alternative.

Those are sad facts.

We can whine all we want, but the real problem is locating, motivating, supporting and working for a nominatable conservative.

Sadly, it appears “none of the above” were sufficiently strong conservatives to beat the Socialist Romney.

Rats.

Well, there are things to do. Go support conservatives where you can find them.

Let Romney rot as a warning.

Until we stop supporting Socialists who happen to have an (R) after their name, we’ll get more of the same.

I like Sarah Palin, but she gets much more praise here than she deserves. She’s been compared to a variety of people here from Reagan to Washington, from Esther to Joan of Arc. A few freepers have posted lists of Palin comparisons more ridiculous than even those. So, comparing her favorably to someone who actually ran is irritating.

With that said, Palin would have been a stronger candidate than Santorum. Palin does a better job rallying the base than Santorum, and her weakness of having a low electability is something that Santorum shares with her. Ultimately, I believe, like Santorum, she would have lost to Romney, because voters would be too afraid of her losing to Obama, whether those fears would be justifiable or not.

If Romney should be thankful for anything, it should be how Perry went down in flames. He’s a fine conservative who has a resume befitting a president, and he would not spark fears of unelectability in spite of the previous governor of Texas.
