Iran's Navy has the ability to deploy its vessels three miles off the US east coast, a high-ranking Iranian Navy commander was quoted as saying by the Fars news agency.

"Our naval forces are so powerful that we have a presence in all the waters of the world and, if needed, we can move to within three miles of New York," Revolutionary Guards Navy Commander Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi was quoted as saying during a speech to students at the University of Yazd earlier this week.

The admiral was speaking on the anniversary the failed 1980 US attempt to rescue American hostages held captive in the US embassy in Tehran.

Fadavi said dominance in the Persian Gulf is "the only tool for the Americans to rule the world," charging that this prompts the US to "confront any other power that threatens their status."

Meanwhile, Revolutionary Guards Aerospace Commander Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh said Iran was capable of crippling or disabling US aircraft carriers, Fars said. …

The very people that despise all efforts to protect them are the ones at risk.

We should not impose Conservative anti terrorist values on them.

Huh? ...Non-sensical. Who are the “very people” and “them” that you are referring to in your posting?

As a former sailor, i can confidently say, BRING IT. They will see the most amazing fireworks display of their lives. For about .5 seconds.

I was in the USAF in Texas, in the 70's. We had Iranian student pilots attempting to learn to fly. They were utterly worthless as pilots. I doubt they have improved much since then. Just as the Iraqi Air Force was no factor in the Gulf War, I doubt the Iranian Air Force would be a factor in any war. Why would anyone expect their Navy to be top notch either?

I think the “very people” Pasadena is referring to are the North Eastern liberals that inhabit the “blue states” between Maine and DC(The Commie Corridor). The same ones that would have been in the streets protesting the Iraq War. The same people that would be in the streets whining if we take any action against Iran.

I think the noob was trying to be satirical.

Actually, the mushroom cloud over Tehran would be more impressive. But that would assume that we had a CIC with the cojones to use it in retaliation for an attack.

Unfortunately, we won’t have one anytime soon. 0bambi would apologize for provoking the attack and Mittens would vacillate 24 times in a day.

Keep on prepping.

When I read it, it seemed to make sense to me (and I’m far from a noob). I take the first sentence to mean that if New York City is going to vote 80% in every election for the people that would leave this country defenseless (i.e., Democrats), and they are left at risk of attack from Iran, there is some degree of justice to it. The second sense says, to me, that kids from Kansas should not have have to put their lives at stake fighting to defend these 80%, essentially the OWS types.

While I’m not saying that I agree with the post, I do understand the frustration of having to carry the water for millions and millions of malcontents. Not much different than the Cold War, when Europe knew we would spend whatever it took to keep them safe, so they spent as little as they could get away with - and then they acted morally superior to us for being so militant, while they were so ‘peaceful’.

I agree.

But the problem is that there are many people of ‘conservative’ mind that live amongst them.

I wouldn’t want them to suffer the consequences just because of the attitude of the ‘elite’.

We would need to defend the ‘elite’ to save the ‘pagans’..

:)

I believe Iran has a two part plan.
Remember the leaders there are crazy mooselimbs.
1st, they put a nuke about a hundred yards inside Lebanon or Egypt.
2nd they put a nuke on a ship and place it 3 1/2 miles off say the Chesapeake and drop it overboard to about a thousand feet deep.
Set them both off at the same time and wella, you have one serious problem./
And if you do not think Iran is willing to sacrafice a few million moosies to criple Israel and the U.S. then you need to rethink.

The mullahs would expect it. All the sailors would be bowing low to Mecca five times a day. That’s probably most of their training.

“We can move to within three miles of New York” - What? New Jersey? Move to New Jersey and threaten New York and see if those New Jersey people don’t come and kick your ass. Do they even have a U-Haul franchise in Iran?

Please do. That means the boys from Norfolk won’t have far to travel to send your fleet to the bottom. Save us taxpayers money.

I believe that comment was intended as a bitch-slap at the liberals in New York City who openly hate America and our values.

I could be wrong though.
