Manny Pacquiao: 'I'm not against gay people'
LA Times ^ | May 16, 2012 | Andrew Blankstein, Bettina Boxall and Shelby Grad

The Grove shopping mall in Los Angeles has banned boxer Manny Pacquiao over comments he made about gay marriage, but the boxer said he was misquoted.

"Based on news reports of statements made by Mr. Pacquiao, we have made it be known that he is not welcome at The Grove and will not be interviewed here now or in the future. The Grove is a gathering place for all Angelenos and not a place for intolerance," the Grove said in a statement.

In an interview with National Conservative Examiner, Pacquiao addressed President Obama's recent endorsement of gay marriage.

"God's words first ... obey God's law first before considering the laws of man," Pacquiao told the Examiner. "God only expects man and woman to be together and to be legally married. It should not be of the same sex, so as to adulterate the altar of matrimony, like in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah."

The article goes on to say that "Pacquiao's directive for Obama calls societies to fear God and not to promote sin, inclusive of same-sex marriage and cohabitation."

The original story quoted Leviticus 20:13, which states: "If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads."

Pacquiao later released a statement saying he was misquoted and denying he has animus for gay people. "I didn't say that, that's a lie.… I didn't know that quote from Leviticus because I haven't read the Book of Leviticus yet."

"I'm not against gay people. I have a relative who is also gay," the boxer insists.

I wonder if The Grove also bans Muslims who believe in stoning a woman to death for adultery?

“The Grove shopping mall in Los Angeles has banned boxer Manny Pacquiao over comments he made about gay marriage”

Um, what is the Grove, why would Pac-man go there, and why do we care? I knew when I read his comments yesterday that the hippies would be after him, and let’s assume this is the beginning of that. But I don’t care about it, nor his comments. Like I said yesterday, the only thing I’m interested is when he’s gonna beat up Mayweather.

I have a lot of relatives who are happy but none who are gay. I wonder if I'm banned from the Grove mall too.

Muslims would stone a homosexual in the year 2012 faster than the ancient Hebrews ever would.

Huh, what?

Tolerance does not mean you have to cater to every whim of every other group.
If you disagree with someone you have every right to say so, as the Grove is so clearly demonstrating, too bad they don't see the irony.

Tolerance as long as you believe what they believe.

I am not against homosexuals either.
Tolerance is not the same as acceptance.

Apparently, his “crime” was expressing an opinion that had not been previously approved by The Grove.

The epitome of a "contradiction in terms":

The Grove is a gathering place for all Angelenos and not a place for intolerance

Seems to me that The Grove is a gathering place for the intolerant.

Sheesh, what is it with these filipenos?
Don’t they know it is ok not to like white males (especially if they are right-wingers) but if they are gay..NOW you are a bigot?
I think what is really driving the left crazy about Pacquiao is he has a large Hispanic following.

If ANYONE is “banned” from a place, the place is being intolerant....

The Grove is a gathering place for all Angelenos and not a place for intolerance,” the Grove said in a statement.

Really?
Do you allow homosexuals? Not many more intolerant then homosexuals.
Do you allow muslims? So tolerant they just kill people that do not accept their death cult.
Do you allow liberals? They are the most intolerant.....
So don;t claim a mantle of tolerance if you allow any of those mentioned..........

Yes, I think the whole, "We will not tolerate intolerance" is about as stupid as we can get in today's Politically Correct society!

It is like the "zero tolerance" policies at schools where the person who gets beat up gets expelled along with the aggressor who beat them up?!?!? In the liberal world, these two concepts make sense and are "fair!"

I am against sex perverts, because their aim is to destroy the foundations of civil society, including the family, in order to gain acceptance as “normal.”

Tolerance is just one of four stages on the path to apostasy:

Outrage -> Tolerance -> Acceptance -> Practice

Homosexuality is abnormal, perverted, immoral, and deadly. It must never be tolerate or accepted, let alone practiced.

I know that may be the case with many homosexuals, my brotherIL is homosexual. He is absolutely opposed to “same sex marriage”, “gay adoption” and schools teaching it is OK.
He believes marriage is a religious ceremony between a man and woman, that only fathers and mothers should raise children, and because there is controversy never taught in school, that it should be left to parents.
His view is that homosexuals should stay out of the fray, and loathes militants and flamboyant, he feels that makes it really bad for the rest of them.
The homosexual community is not as monolithic as the MSM would like people to think.

Yet we have to tolerate Muslim intolerance. Go figure.
