BBC Big: Europe Pulling For Obama As More Supportive Of 'Social Democratic' Values
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Call it damning with pink praise . . .

On today's Morning Joe, BBC's Katty Kay, anchor of the network's American edition, said that Europeans favor the re-election of President Obama because he is more supportive of "European social-democratic values." You know, those wonderful welfare-state policies that have worked their magic so well that Europe now enjoys . . . an 11.1% unemployment rate.

Obama is “more in line with European social-democratic values?” Well, you could knock me over with a feather. What they mean to say is Obama is more in line with the European idea that the state should control everything down to the color of your underwear. Which should be red.

More “social democratic”, eh. Vladimir Bukovsky had this to say about what the social democratic ideal is doing to the European Union:
The Soviet Union used to be a state run by ideology. Today’s ideology of the European Union is social-democratic, statist, and a big part of it is also political correctness. I watch very carefully how political correctness spreads and becomes an oppressive ideology …
If that is what Obama is on board with, then he is a tool of a very dangerous movement.

Europe likes him so much, mainly because he makes them look good.

Okay everyone, repeat after me:

“America is not a Democracy, it is a Constitutional Republic.”

“Social Democracy” is just code for socialism.

I despise Liberals. There are numerous very sulfurous, burning ponds for every last one of them.

If Mitt Romney's Campaign, and all of his Super PACS (like Karl Rove and Co.) don't jump all over this, they need their head examined.

Obama is “more in line with European social-democratic values?”

But that's not the same as having an America that supports European interests. IOW's a weaker America lead by Obama is not going to be able to support European defense, and the days of freeloading off America will hasten to an end with an Obama re-election. But they can't see that.

Better start writing those bigger tax checks for your own defense, Euroweenies!

If many Euros are like my Brit in-laws, I doubt they give a thought to defense. I’ve yet to hear my Brit in-laws say anything at all about Islamism or defending their their country. They were all against the Iraq War and probably Afghanistan as well. Some called Tony Blair a war criminal. So in my honest opinion, many Euros are blissfully unaware of any threat to their own countries. I don’t even think they believe we will come to their defense in case of an attack or care if we do or don’t. Because they simply don’t see any threats on the horizon. And I’d have to say, like Mark Steyn, their biggest threat is a demographic i.e. Islamist threat. But they don’t say anything about that either.

From my perspective- someone who travels to Europe and talks to Europeans - most Europeans don’t give a rat’s behind about Obama or the presidential election. Not because they like or dislike him, but because they are neck high in their own troubles they don’t care.
