For Marine's family, grief mixes with anger over U.S. war policy

"The family of Lance Cpl. Hunter Hogan blamed military strategy — and the nation's commander in chief — for continued deaths in Afghanistan on Friday, the day they laid the 21-year-old Marine to rest in York.

Steve Hogan, Hunter's father, buried his son in York Friday afternoon and then released a statement that blasted the military's rules of engagement in Afghanistan. Those rules have handcuffed Marines like his son as they try to wage war, he said, adding to the danger they face in some of the most dangerous areas of Afghanistan."

I’m a HAWK for destroying our enemies at a moment’s notice and taking it to them with everything we’ve got. But, I am not stupid, and stupid policies get our best killed! I stand with this father 1000%!!!

If we’re not going to take it to the enemey, and let our soldiers take it to them, them BRING THEM ALL THE HELL HOME!!!!

After 10 YEARS, it’s up the Afghans risk ‘their’ lives and PATROL THEIR OWN DAMN COUNTRY!

My sympathies go out to the family over the loss of their loved one.If we’re not going to win the war in Afghanistan we should get out and stop wasting the lives of our troop and the treasure of the taxpayers.

Very sorry to hear this. I know this hits close to home for you. I am really disgusted with our never-ending policy of having our military ground troops stay on perpetual ‘patrol’ duties without doing the necessary clearing to control the territory. If you are not going to control the territory with all means available, then get the hell out! After all, if the locals are not able to do it after 10 years, it’s not going to change with another 10.

My son is in Hogan’s company, and we are all mourning his loss. They also lost others and it is very, very, very hard.

Hogan’s funeral was so honorably amazing. I wish I could have gone, but I think we will go say goodbye when we can.

Very close. As I said he was a good kid, had many friends here. Disgusted/angry a total unnecessary loss of life.

We finally got permission to lower flags to half mast....You wouldn’t believe the red tape. Another student is in charge of the Vet Services. She just lost her daddy, and was a friend of Hunter....Stopped by for hug. Another friend organized a community service here at the same time as the one in Nebraska. Just couldn’t go....It’s SO difficult to lose one of your own,

Prayers for you and all connected with/to you.

Shades of VIetnam....

The criticism echoes complaints from some Nebraska and Iowa troops as they return from the Afghan War. They say that they aren't allowed to fire at Afghans who they believe have just triggered roadside bombs. They say they often can't fight at night, or call in airstrikes, because of military leaders' fear of doing anything that angers the Afghan population.

The goal should be to make the population fear doing anyuthing that angers us. Otherwise we will lose and should leave now.

I am sick over all the wonderful, talented, CONSERVATIVE young people dying caught in a web of ROE that are about propping up international political careers and not safety or winning.

Killing off the children of conservatives isnt hurting Hussian in any way.

Military personnel dying in defense of the nation will always remain having given the highest price in love of their country, for me being heroes forever.

Nevertheless, there is much to say for mother's like Cindy Sheehan. But one incident of a tragic soldier's death will never leave me. One soldier having lost his life in a particularly heroic hard fought battle had his body returned not in a coffin but already resting in peace deep within some elaborate memorial.

Upon approaching the overwhelming, impenetrable edifice his mother so grief-stricken, emotionally crazed by her loss tried barreling her way through the hardened material shrieking his name, sobbing so pitifully I won't ever forget it, deprived of even one last embrace, one last look, no matter how he looked. Still, God Bless this heroic man, God Bless America.

Bring them home, all of them, bring them home now! We need not fight another war with wishy washy missions and wishy washy rules of engagement.

After we get the troops out of there, let's bring all the troops, all around the world home and issue our own fatwah!

We do have weapons of mass destruction! Mess with us or any of our few remaining allies and we will use them for what they were intended!

My brother was buried this week in 1970. Nothing changes. I still hear his fiance crying her heart out.

Seriously. Bring all the troops home from all over the world. Okay. Look at how the world is reacting to this administration’s limp wristed policies. What would happen if there were not police in this nation? Do you lock your doors? Do you appreciate the patrol car driving up your street. Do you want your policeman sitting at a desk? He has a gun, but he is at a desk.

A nuke? A nuke? We are going to nuke everyone? Our enemies have nukes. It’s the termites and mold we are fighting in Afghanistan not a nation.

Here’s the thread. Make sure you follow the links to original article where there are more links to pictures and his father’s statement.

From the dad’s statement”

..................
Here’s the statistics in Afghanistan for the 8 years of George Bush. The total killed in action under him is 660. Barack Obama in 3 years and 5 months the total killed in action is a total of 1,398.

Wounded under George Bush is 2,637 in 8 years. Wounded under Obama up to January 31st of this year is 11,529.

Would sure like to see it go viral....Here’s a link to just his statement....Damn Amateur!
