Move America Forward is proud to announce the participation of an American sports legend who knows and appreciates our troops more than most, “Coach K”, Mike Krzyzewski.
Trooathon is a huge event that we do once a year to support our troops and raise much needed funds for care packages to send to the troops over in Afghanistan. Unfortunately, it seems that in recent months support for our troops and their missions is waning.
The media is all but ignoring our men and women serving in Afghanistan. You no longer see the stories of their heroism on the nightly news. We can’t allow our troops to be forgotten. This year’s theme for Troopathon is “NEVER FORGET our TROOPS” because we are fighting to remind the American people that our troops are still at war, while the rest of the country is at the mall.
In 2010, Mike Krzyzewski became a four-time National Champion at Duke University, adding to his impressive resume, which includes induction into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2001.
Coach K got his start in basketball as team captain of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point basketball team. After serving his country as an Army Officer, ascending to Captain, he resigned in 1974 to begin his coaching career. From 1975-1980 he was Head Coach at West Point before moving on to Duke, where he has spent the past 30 years.
In 2005 he was presented West Point’s Distinguished Graduate Award. He currently serves as head coach of the U.S. National team, winning a Gold Medal in 2008 and restoring honor to the National team in the process.

Not only does Coach K instill the lessons he learned from his days of service, appreciating the value of teamwork, dedication and sacrifice, he continues to share a profound appreciation of the brave men and women serving their country.
That is why he graciously accepted the opportunity to send a message of support for the Troopathon. We couldn’t be happier to count Coach K among the many supporters of MAF that know how important our mission supporting the troops with care packages is.
