Since the Federal FY ends on Sept 30th, this looks like buying to expend funds before end of FY.

On a more “Conspiritorial” note, the federal buy up of ammo could be to deplete the supply and drive up prices.

Think of a few years ago when most cpacity was diverted to military uses.

Just a thought

Because 60k-70k won't fit in their trunk? (variation on an old joke)

On another note, depending on the size of the armed personnel of the agency, the number of rounds may not be so out of line.

Let’s say 100 rounds per year per officer for qualification and and additional 2-300 per year for training. These numbers are fairly standard. That makes around 400 per officer per year.

There are freepers that say they shoot that much in a day.

At that number 272,000 rounds comes to a 400 rounds per officer allocation for 680 people. Really not so out of line.

Any way to search and find out if similar purchases have been made over the years?

Or they could require 680 officers to buy their own ammo or look for work in the dreaded private sector if they don’t like it.

That sounds like exactly the way to put this in perspective. If there actually were to be something afoot that demands a proper explanation- it'd be plain to see.

"We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.” --- Barrack Hussain Oboma

If we’re going to create some kind of national police force as big, powerful and well-funded as our combined U.S. military forces, isn’t this rather a big deal? Shouldn't some one be questioning the motives? Shouldn't someone at least be questioning all these new arms orders for people who don't necessarily need them?

If everything is immediately pushed off as a conspiracy theory without question, the truth would never be revealed until it's too late to do anything to stop it.

Question everything. That way, nothing goes unanswered.
