Rise in Health-Care Premiums Outpacing Inflation, Wages (As predicted, Obamacare a dismal failure)

U.S. health insurance premiums have climbed faster than wages and inflation this year, and look poised to accelerate in 2013, adding to voter concerns about soaring healthcare costs ahead of November elections for the White House and Congress.

A study released on Tuesday showed that premiums for employer-sponsored health plans, which cover about 149 million Americans, grew a modest 4 percent to $15,745 in 2012. It was a substantially slower rate of growth than in past years, including 2011, when premiums jumped 9 percent.

But the study's authors at the nonpartisan Kaiser Family Foundation and the Health Research and Educational Trust, said higher costs still took a bigger bite from the income of middle-class employees, whose wages advanced only 1.7 percent, as employers shifted more healthcare costs to their workers.

It's amazing how they call $630 a year “modest”.

Self-employed, wife and three kids. Health insurance just went up again to $983 a month. And lousy - bare minimum insurance. Although I suppose it does cover birth-control and abortions now. Never mind that we already have that permanently taken care of.

The insurance business is full of crooks - the government should take it over. (”That's the plan Baby”)

That is probably the ballpark cost of all the new “free” stuff that the insurers are mandated to provide.

Obamacare may be a dismal failure, but as of now, it is the only game allowed on the field.

Either we must become sufficiently informed to become our own physician, or the likelihood of early death shall haunt each of us.

My wife, my best friend and I all work for small business owners. Each of our employer’s healthcare plans increased by 17-18% since Obamacare kicked in. We were experiencing 3-4% increases annually before Obamacare. Everybody at each of our offices is complaining and talking about getting rid of Bozo and his so-called “affordable care act”. I guarantee ya, Bozo’s days are numbered.

If Bush had enacted Obamacare back in 2001, the health care system would have totally collapsed by the time Obama was elected and Obama could have enacted a single-payer socialist medical plan.

It is, therefore, Bush’s fault.

I just got my renewal today for my company. We have 16 employees, 11 on the health insurance plan. After an increase of 11% last year, our quote is for a 23% increase.

Just can’t do it. Will have to sock it to employees this year, unlike last year’s increase, which I absorbed.

I’m not surprised at all that Obamacare didn’t stop the already-socialist monster from devouring our country, as it wasn’t devised to do so. Much of the medical monster (nurses’ unions, big drug companies, hospital administrators, all) lobbied for Obamacare. The denials and obfuscations of those lobbies are Romanesque.

0bamacare certainly is doing nothing to fix this, the jury still being out. Healthcare costs have been rising 8-9% per annum for at least 15 years.
