when somebody can attack somebody like this so casually, they have lost their humanity and shouldn’t be treated as if they have any.

Unfortunately, jail is just a place to socialize for these young thugs, like a library would be for most people.

I would say so. Animals kill to eat or to defend themselves or their young; these monsters kill for sheer pleasure. Comparing them slanders the animal kingdom.
