Top U.S. Commander in Afghanistan: We’re Willing to Fight – But ‘Not Willing to Be Murdered'

(CNSNews.com) - Gen. John Allen, the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan, says he's "mad as hell" about the increasing number of insider attacks, in which Afghan soldiers and police murder the Americans who are trying to train them.

"You know, we're willing to sacrifice a lot for this campaign. But we're not willing to be murdered for it," Gen. Allen told CBS' "60 Minutes" in a segment that aired on Sunday.

Gen. Allen told CBS Correspondent Lara Logan that the insider attacks will continue: "The enemy recognizes this is a vulnerability. You know, in Iraq, the signature weapon system that we hadn't seen before was the IED. We had to adjust to that. Here, I think the signature attack that we're beginning to see the -- is going to be the insider attack."

Allen also said "the vast majority” of Afghans are "with us in this." He noted that a number of Afghans have been killed trying to save NATO forces from rogue Afghans.

A Taliban commander -- described as a specialist in suicide bombings who was trained by al Qaeda -- also spoke to "60 Minutes," telling Lara Logan that the Taliban is behind the insider attacks:

"These are Taliban attacks," the unnamed man said. "This is part of our new military strategy. We have our people in the Afghan police and the army. And the orders come from the top."

The Taliban representative told CBS that al Qaeda fights are flowing into Afghanistan, helping to make the Taliban more effective in killing NATO troops:

"We can't do this without them (al Qaeda)," he said. "They are masters of everything. For example, making IEDs, something we don't know how to do. But they are teaching us. They are also master engineers and good

Just keep doing that good civilian police work, General. Our civilian leadership doesn’t have the will to fight and is prepared to have its authorities call your soldiers “civilian” “males” and keep them unemployed after their return. Welcome to the decline of Rome 2.0.

Am glad the Commander has spoken up. ..and out. This is insane and of course; not even a 'head nod' by Obama. Oh, that's right; Obama is a busy man. . .

And yes; he already should have a 'visitor' by now. . .Let the 'consult' begin.

IMHO, God’s Providence is the solution, but there are other enemies within our midst who are enemies of Christ first and are seeking to use Islam as a tool to maneuver and promote all things antiChristian.

In the immediate situation while we are in country, murder (and all felonious acts) must simply be met by immediate capital punishment under martial law.

I do believe that is not true....Vietnam saw many IED deaths.

Totally. If they are serious about Islam, they hate us and are our enemies.

Weapons and military tactics will not win this war. The only things that you can send to Afghanistan to win this war are Missionaries. When the West is serious about endings its 15 century war with Islam we will admit we are fighting a war with Islam. You must give these people a reason to question and change their core beliefs and killing them doesn’t do it that well or at all. They need something to believe in that gives them a purpose that is not contrary to Western civilization.

You are a real thinker, and believer. Send in the missionaries with plenty of Military guards, and make them listen. The Word of God will do the rest. We should also show them what love is. Jesus did say love your enemies. Love breaks down every barrier. Love and The Word of God are the two most powerful things on earth, not bullets and bombs. The war would be over and the people would be set free. There may be some casualties when armed enemies break through, but those believers that die would be ushered into heaven with crowns.

“Gen. John Allen, the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan, says he’s “mad as hell” about the increasing number of insider attacks, in which Afghan soldiers and police murder the Americans who are trying to train them. “

While he gets credit for being “mad as hell” now (Hoping for actual action as a result - but it’s not clear he will act), where was COL. John Allen? Where was LtCol. John Allen on this subject?

One would have thought that stupid ROE would have been noticed before he became a General Officer - unless, of course, he just kept his mouth shut and let troops under his command be murdered rather than treat the enemy as the enemy until he was selected for General.

How many better officers than he were denied the promotion to general he got because they, perhaps, made too many waves internally about letting soldiers under their command get murdered - and were quietly put out to pasture as an 05 or 06 as a result?

He shows a definitive lack of generalship. Then again, all too many of them do these days when politics trumps leadership in getting to that lofty rank.

Then, you must start to kill.

You must kill them by the tens of thousands, destroy their houses, destroy their likelihoods, destroy their families. Death, massive death is the solution to the problem.

As a Veteran, I am no more incensed and the next guy over what has been happening in regards to the ROE situation going back before Obama came into power. All of it is a steaming pile of crap to the highest order.

But this General has essentially signed his own resignation by giving this interview. Granted, he is a commander on the field of combat, but he also holds very close and dear the oath he gave without reservation.

But there comes a time when a man has got to do what a man has got to do. He is blowing the whistle in a big way just as LTC Allen West did. All the while knowing his actions to do what only he could to put those under his commands safety on a higher order than the controlled orders he swore to uphold and execute.

I will cut him a little slack in knowing he had the guts to administratively terminate his career in an effort to bring to light just how bad the situation is. With the high hopes I have on an administration change very soon, I say he may be far more valuable in the field to execute a totally new set of ROE directives come January 21st.

The only reason that Dempsey avoided being fragged was because he was never in Vietnam. His first combat action was as an XO during Desert Storm. Never in the trenches, never in the breach. Rot in hell you faggot loving SOB!
