How US Ambassador Chris Stevens May Have Been Linked To Jihadist Rebels In Syria

Michael Kelley | 46 minutes ago

US Weapons Are Going To Hard-Line Jihadists Fighting To Topple The Syrian Regime

The details of the September 11 attack that killed four Americans at the U.S. consulate in Benghazi are still murky and there's certainly more to be known.

Former CIA officer Clare Lopez argues that the key issue is "the relationship of the U.S. government, Ambassador Christopher Stevens and the U.S. diplomatic mission in Libya with Al Qaeda."

That relationship, Lopez argues, could be connected to the rise of Islamic brigades in Syria, who recently created a "Front to Liberate Syria" to wage jihad against the Syrian regime and turn the country into an Islamic state.

Ambassador Stevens was doing gun running to the Syrian rebels.

In March 2011 Stevens became the official U.S. liaison to the al-Qaeda-linked Libyan opposition and began coordinating U.S. assistance to the rebels.

Fast and Furious Libya style. Confirmation of Turkish Ambs.

Now we know why he was meeting with the shipping company listed in the documents found.

If the new Libyan government was sending jihadists and 400 tons of lethal cargo to Syria through a port in southern Turkey—a deal brokered by Stevens’ primary Libyan contact during the Libyan revolution—then the governments of Turkey and the U.S. surely knew about it

Exporting Fast & Furious to Syria

By Ross Kaminsky on 10.16.12 @ 2:49PM

I can’t say I came up the the comparison to Fast and Furious, though I can say it’s so obvious that you’d think the Obama administration would have recognized it. I hope that Romney deals with this in the debate tonight.

Thanks for posting. I believe there is much more to the story and ME policy than is being told. But I have been watching MI5 every night so I could be jaundiced. Or not.

Obama’s Syrian ‘Fast and Furious’
Marc Thiessen | October 16, 2012, 1:49 pm

Imagine if the Obama administration participated in the creation of an arms pipeline to al Qaeda in Syria – a “Fast and Furious” program running Saudi and Qatari weapons to our terrorist enemies in the Middle East. Then imagine that Vice President Joe Biden looked the American people in the eye during the vice presidential debate last week, and lied about it.

It would make Susan Rice’s blaming the Benghazi attack on a YouTube video pale by comparison.

Yet that is precisely what has happened. The New York Times reported on its front page Monday:

Glenn Beck is unpacking this story now on his show.

On September 11 Stevens held an evening meeting with a Turkish diplomat before retiring to his room at 9 p.m. Gunfire and explosions began 40 minutes later. Is Steven's guest for his last meeting just another eerie coincidence?

Either way it seems that the connection between Benghazi and the rise of jihadists in Syria is much stronger than has been officially acknowledged.

In the aftermath of the Embassy attack there has been a move to turn Stevens into some sort of Sainted Martyr.

In reality, he was an Arabist and an Milddle East Nativist who internalized much of the mind set of the Radical Arab world. He was a supporter of the PLO and maintained close connections dn ties to Middle East radical groups.

For this reason he was chosen as liaison and adviser to the Muslim opposition militias in Libya.

He took sides in the Libyan Civil War and help defeat and eliminate members of opposition groups that Clinton and Obama were not in favor of.

He made a lot of nnemies and while he may have been close personally to many individuals in high places in the Islamist militias, at the end of the day he was still the man who was the face of the Great Satan in the region.

He was also a useful idiot who had been insrumental to the Muslim Brotherhood gaining power in Libya, but in his new position he was becoming an obstacle to those who he had put in power using Libya as a spring board to further Jihad.

If that is true, no amount of 'Cables' between State Dept and Amb. Stevens will exonerate Hillary.

Hillary is done.

So, if I understand this correctly, the attack began 40 minutes after Stevens met with the Turkish diplomat who was also serving as his weapons broker that supplied the Libyan rebels but who is now facilitating the transport of weapons to Syria from Libya?

I need help understanding some of this.

Why would Turkey help arm the Syrians? In the past 2 weeks or so I got the impression that the two countries are coming to blows because Syrian rockets (or ours I guess) landed in Turkey, so Turkey retaliated. Is that correct?

If so, I’m just going in circles trying to understand all this now.

Engaging in regime change without a UN Security Council resolution? Didn’t that used to be frowned upon?

Also the questions American public should ask this admin (and themselves) are -

Where ELSE did F&F extend to?

Where the money is from, to be used on F&F - Libyan front?
Without a budget for 4 years, is Congress even made aware of such expenditures?

I am more than a little confused about who is on which side of the issue.

What it looks like to me is that once the weapons deal was done, Stevens was no longer useful, and in fact was a liability who needed to be removed.

You might be confusing the Assad (government) side in Syria’s internal conflict with the opposition side. Turkey is mad at the Assad regime. This weaponry is supposedly being funneled to people who claim to be opponents of that regime, but who at the same time apparently are linked to al qaeda.
