Poll: Obama’s Lead Falls To 3 In Colorado

TOM KLUDT OCTOBER 18, 2012 President Barack Obama’s lead in Colorado is down to 3, according to a survey from Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling released Thursday.

The poll shows Obama leading Romney among likely voters in the state 50 percent to 47 percent. That’s the president’s smallest lead in PPP’s polling of the Centennial State all year and a dip from the 6-point lead he held prior to the first presidential debate in Denver earlier this month.

Along with Obama’s lead being sliced in half, Romney’s personal popularity among Colorado voters has also improved since the previous PPP survey in late-September. Although it remains under water, Romney’s favorability rating has seen a 5-point improvement during the last three weeks: 48 percent of Colorado voters now have a favorable view of the Republican nominee, while 49 percent have an unfavorable view. Obama’s approval rating has inched slightly downward, going from 50 percent to 49 percent in Thursday’s poll.

The poll shows a yawning generational gap in Colorado. Romney leads among the state’s senior citizens 55 percent to 43 percent, while Obama claims a cumulative lead among all other age groups, 51 percent to 46 percent. The president holds a narrow 3-point lead among Colorado women, while Romney edges Obama by 2 points among men. And in a state widely known for its independent streak, Obama leads Romney by 9 points among unaffiliated voters in Colorado.

PPP is not credible not even when it is favorable.

PPP’s internals are laughable. O has been carpetbombing the DEN-COSPRGS market since the summer and he’s barely moved the needle.

Ignore this one - El Paso County will give the state to Romney.

The Rats reduced it and supported fraudulent motor-voter registration with no citizen ID required.

You after understand something about CO. In 2008, the party was +1R, in 2004 it was +7R. In order for a CO poll to be credible it has to be about +4R (in the middle).

Yeah, something like that doesn’t pass the smell test.

Definitely a huge red flag.

D 38, R 35, I 27

From the ballots already sent out, that breakdown is not going to happen!

If it were up to the libs - they would lower the age to 16. They’ve already dumbed down a majority of college kids - and that’s depressing when so many have access to the internet and could easily do their own research on the issues. The trouble is the instructors (professors) use their position to sway the kids. After all, if someone with a master’s degree or Ph.d says that being a Democrat is cool - then it must be so.

Why haven’t the conservatives infiltrated these organizations over the years instead of allowing the libs to overtake these institutions?

The suburbs around DEN went more than 2-1 for O in 2008 and he went big here. That was enough to nullify the downstate conservative vote out of El Paso. I’d say he gets no more than 40% outside DEN Metro this year and its not going to be enough.

Romney has this state locked down and will carry it going away the night of Nov. 6th.

Because too many of them think if they just win big in the next election, then it’ll all work out in the end.

It was worse prior to Reagan, but I think now we’ve gotten our act together with pursuing alternatives to education and the like.

“Why haven’t the conservatives infiltrated these organizations over the years instead of allowing the libs to overtake these institutions?”

Because most conservatives want to go out and have jobs in the real world, leaving the liberals alone in their protected ivory towers.

This compares to 2008 of R +1 (Dem 30, Rep 31, Ind 39) and 2004 R +9 2004 R +9 (Dem 29, Rep 38, Ind 33).

Not a good poll. More Indies and Rs need to be sampled.

How can any Senior vote for Obama after watching him steal 716 Billion dollars from Medicare and making the rule that at 74 they will no longer pay for Cancer treatments.

Something is rotten in Denmark.

I got days old stinky socks that can pass that smell test.

Something in CO does not smell good.
