Boehner on Obama Tax Plan: "You Can't Be Serious"
Townhall.com ^ | December 3, 2012 | Kevin Glass

The Obama Administration proposal to fix the "fiscal cliff" coming at the end of the year called for $1.6 trillion in tax hikes over current policy. House Speaker John Boehner said he was "flabbergasted" when presented with the proposal this week.

Boehner tells "Fox News Sunday" that after Geithner briefed him privately on Thursday, he looked at Geithner and said, "You can't be serious." Boehner called it "silliness" that the White House was, among other things, asking Congress to give up its power to set the nation's debt limit.

Earlier today, Geithner insisted that the Obama Administration wouldn't relent on marginal tax rate hikes - one of the most economically harmful ways of raising tax revenue. The tax rate hikes for marginal income could cost up to 300,000 jobs in the next two years, and Obama's proposed taxes on savings and investments might be even more economically damaging in the long-term.

Geithner has appeared to be completely intransigent on negotiations, determined to either induce economically-damaging tax hikes or allow the nation to be driven off the cliff.

Is John Boehner standing up to the marxist? I will answer the Speaker of the House, yes obama is serious.

This sounds a bit like a bipartisan scam to make Boehner look tough so there is no TEA Party challange to his leadership as Speaker of the House. The GOPe and the Dems are nervous.

If the House stands firmly against the marxists in the administration only illegal EO’s can implement any changes.,

I am a low Middle income citizen and I have to admit that tax hikes on my savings doesn’t bother me too much.

I have around $100,000 dollars worth of Life Savings, tied up in CD’s, and these CD’s are earning me .15% interest. If he takes all that I earn in interest he isn’t going to kill me, if he can save the world with my $150.00 then I wish him well. What frightend me worst is when Obma hyper inflation hits me , I will be left with nothing for a life’s work.

It’s either his way, which means an illegal EO, or the highway. Count on it

Folks, we’re being played with the good-cop/bad-cop ploy again.

Don’t get your hopes up because the GOP will, as it always does, let us down massively once again.

Brother, your dollar-denominated investments are going to shrink to a fraction of their current buying power.

Liquidate them and buy precious metals. Get out of the dollar!

There will be no deal. The Bush tax cuts will evaporate and really won't impact on taxes due until 2014. There are only 10 working days left before the congresscritters go home for Christmas. Thus the real deal will happen in the new congress.
The “cliff” is just Marxist chatter.

Geithner has appeared to be completely intransigent on negotiations

Because Geithner:

1. Is an idiot.

2. Is the perfect example of the Peter Principle in action.

He actually "arrived" at his job with the Fed and should have gone no further. This Treas Sec gig was possible only because he was promoted into it by someone else who is possibly the greatest example of the PP in America today.

Giving the president power to unilaterally raise the debt limit?

Dumb, dumb, dumb. . .and un-constitutional.

Per Article I, Section 8: “The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

TO BORROW MONEY ON THE CREDIT OF THE UNITED STATES;”

How the HECK can Pelosi, Dirty Reid and The Dumb One endorse something like this??

Do they think no one will notice it is un-constitutional and would require a constitutional amendment?

I know, I know, the sheeple won’t care and The Dumb One, Pelosi and Dirty Reid don’t give a rat’s about what the Constitution actually says.

What they are counting on, if they get away with this, is the sheeple no caring (”it’s for the chil’ren”) and Roberts will find a made-up loop-hole so a constitutional amendment won’t be necessary.

We are one giant leap forward towards a dictatorship.

Seriously.

It makes total sense when you accept the fact that Ubama's only goal is to overwhelm the system so that he and his fellow travelers can impose the totalitarian dictatorship that they have been working for, lo these many years.

He's a total incompetent, but that exactly the kind of guy you need when destruction is the goal.

Republicans need to get out in front of the media and demand the negotiations be televised immediately.

He will fold like a cheap suit. He already stated that obamacare is the “law of the land”. So that should tell us something about the amount of opposition we should expect from him. Any opposition him or the rest of the GOP give at this point are just theatrics at this point.

Has there ever been a dictator taken out by the people? The ones I can think of were taken out as the result of war with other nations?
