Vatican newspaper compares marriage equality to communism
Vatican City • Faced with recent setbacks in the United States and Europe, the Roman Catholic Church has intensified its increasingly uphill battle against gay marriage.
The latest salvo came this week, with a front-page article in the Vatican’s semiofficial newspaper, L’Osservatore Romano.
Historian Lucetta Scaraffia compared proponents of gay marriage, with their championing of “marriage equality,” to 20th-century communists who wooed millions with their promise of perfect social and economical equality.
Scaraffia, a 64-year-old former feminist activist who later became a fervent Catholic, has often written in the Vatican newspaper on the issue.
For her, the idea of gay marriage is a product of the same “egalitarian utopia that did so much damage during the 20th century ... deceiving humanity as socialism did in the past.”
In November, voters approved gay marriage in three U.S. states, while Spain’s Constitutional Court rejected a bid to repeal the country’s same-sex marriage law. France and Britain are in the process of legalizing gay marriage.
The Catholic Church has lobbied hard in all these countries. But it has also tried to present its position in a nonreligious way, as a defense of traditional family that can be embraced by believers and nonbelievers alike.
Particularly in France, church leaders say that their opposition to gay marriage is winning favor outside Catholic circles.
Last month, tens of thousands of people took to the streets to protest the government’s planned introduction of gay marriage. “Our demonstration was declaredly nonconfessional,” said Paris Archbishop Andre Vingt-Trois, who noted the participation of Jewish and Muslim groups.
This approach mirrors Pope Benedict XVI’s on the issue.

Catholics need to start reading their Bibles a little more.
I am not a Catholic and I admit there are a few topics within the church I question.
However,I admire more about the Catholic church than I question. We have all seen many of the mainstream churches going the pc route and the Catholic church has remained firm in it’s tradition’s and belief’s.

While this will ‘offend’ some ‘sensibilities’ it will really be used to control thought, especially for the children’s (our future citizens) indoctrination.

He saw the danger of the state defining the institution for its purposes, but if you would have described the concept of state accepted ‘gay marriage’ to him, his mitre would have shot off his head like a rocket. It makes you wonder what judges, pols, or 51% of the voting public might consider marriage in another 130 years. Maybe a polymorous arrangement with your own sex-changed clones and a few human brains in animal bodies.

The attitude of those who promote gay marriage towards those who oppose it is clearly reminscent of the attitude of Nazis and Communists towards their opponents.
When they stood outside of businesses and churches yelling “bigot” because they opposed gay marriage, it reminded me of the brownshirts who stood outside of Jewish businesses in 1933 Germany.
The way the media goes after businesses or prominent individuals who say things in opposition to gay marriage should have the name “brownshirting” attached to it.
Its itimidation to silence people, nothing more and nothing less.
The fact is that a man who has objective, persistent homosexual tendencies, or who acffirms homosexuality as his personal identity, is disqualified from ordination to the priesthood. If a candidate for ordination lies about this, it's hard to defend against; but the rules have been there for a long time.
And priests are to be suspended from their ministry upon any credible allegation of pedophilia. That's what happened in my diocese (Knoxville) just a year and a half ago: a priest was accused by a man he victimized as a child 30 years ago; he was questioned by the bishop; and he was suspended from the priesthood instantly. The Diocese coperated with criminal investigation, and he's now in jail.
That's by the book: you can hardly do better than that.

The primary precept of govt sanctioned “homosexual marriage” is to force the recognition of it, and support for it regardless of one’s views on homosexuality. Related laws are intrinsically in violation of the 1st Amendment; a violation which supports the notion of communism.

I figure both Father’s Day and Mother’s Day will eventually be criminalized although a lot of women will definitely give some pushback on the criminalization of Mother’s Day.
Indeed. The pro-homosexualist movement would never have gotten this far without communistic/socialistic support. They need to own up to this fact. To paraphrase them, “be open about who you are.”

I have several family members who are/were teachers. There was a time when girls in primary readers were not as visible as boys, and the girls were pictured in passive activities, the boys in more boisterous action. Girl:doll; boy:baseball
Now fathers have been almost completely erased from stories that early readers are being exposed to. Blue-brain ‘thinking’” it’s not faaiir to show two parent families, because it will hurt too many children in one parent, female, families.
The mindset of the ‘educators’ who choose these books for ‘learning’ - Nevermind showing optimal scenarios to all children; just worry about not ‘offending’ some!
