The giant, gaping hole in Sandy Hook reporting
WorldNetDaily ^ | Jan 6, 2013 | David Kupelian

Since last month’s horrifying and heartbreaking school massacre in Newtown, Conn., politicians and the press have, as everyone knows,.....

Other possible factors – from violent video games to the “failure of our mental-health system” to the unintended consequences of making schools “gun-free zones” – have taken a back seat to guns. Within hours of the gruesome mega-crime, the media had provided extensive, round-the-clock coverage of precisely which firearms, manufacturers and calibers the perpetrator had used, how he had obtained them from his mother, where they were originally purchased, and so on.

But where, I’d like to ask my colleagues in the media, is the reporting about the psychiatric medications the perpetrator – who had been under treatment for mental-health problems – may have been taking? After all, Mark and Louise Tambascio, family friends of the shooter and his mother, were interviewed on CBS’ “60 Minutes,” during which Louise Tambascio told correspondent Scott Pelley: “I know he was on medication and everything, but she homeschooled him at home cause he couldn’t deal with the school classes sometimes, so she just homeschooled Adam at home. And that was her life.” And here, Tambascio tells ABC News, “I knew he was on medication, but that’s all I know.”

It has been more than three weeks since the shooting. We know all about the guns he used, but what “medication” may he have used? (One brief mini-hoax emerged when the New York Daily News published a story claiming the shooter, according to his uncle, had been on the controversial antipsychotic drug Fanapt. That story was quickly withdrawn after the “uncle” turned out to be a fraudster with no relation to the murderer.)

So, what is the truth? Where is the journalistic curiosity? Where is the follow-up? Where is the police report,.......

TV commercials for drugs seem to spend most of their air time talking about negative side effects. Why not so for these brain-altering chemicals?

(I’m going to guess they’re paying big bucks into the feds).

What’s the bottom line on the guns. He used an AR-15 He didn’t use an AR-15. What did he use right after the shooting it was reported that the AR was found locked in the trunk of his car. Now not a word about how it all happened. Do we have to wait until Obama bans everything including slingshots to find out.

ALSO, why are so many of these kids depressed in the first place? Could it be the collapse of values by their parents’ generation?

Schizophrenia is like that ~ doesn’t matter what medication you give them. What they treat are symptoms ~ you might like to read what Mayo Clinic has to say ~ see: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/schizophrenia/DS00196/DSECTION=treatments-and-drugs

These kids are sociopaths. There is no viable therapy or cure.

Schizophrenia is also controlled by genetics. This is a piece that says there’s a close relationship between AUTISM and Schizophrenia ~ you might like to read this too ~ http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2012/11/121111153933.htm no doubt we will have a test for the condition soon. If you don’t trust them try reading the source: http://www.nature.com/neuro/journal/v15/n12/full/nn.3261.html Adam Lanza did not benefit from any of this research ~ a number of folks with these sorts of conditions read everything published about the ~ maybe Adam read this and he realized his situation was hopeless ~ at this time.

I took Prozac briefly. I was so lethargic, I didn't have enough energy to get out of bed, let alone shoot somebody. Seems that no one can predict with certainty how these meds will work. They can be a nightmare or a godsend.

Another problem is misdiagnosis. I know a guy who took antidepressants for years with little relief. Recently, it was discovered he was actually bipolar, not just depressed. He was being treated for only one symptom.

“ALSO, why are so many of these kids depressed in the first place? Could it be the collapse of values by their parents’ generation?”

Two theories:
1 It is cool to brag to your friends etc about all of the medicines you are taking. It is approaching rare to run into a female on an EMS call who is not on SSRI’s.

2 Kids sit for hours on end playing video games instead of going outside and playing and learning how to be -people-. So we go back to number 1 in order to try to fix the problem.

I am constantly amazed at some of the people we interview who have zero skills to even carry on an intelligent conversation with another person.

It does not matter what he used.

It only matters what they say he used.

It does not matter how it happened, it only matters how they say it happened.

I’m not even sure 100% that it happened. I know people say it happened, but what if it didn’t?

What if there was no mass media?

How easy would it be to fake the entire thing?

Maybe I’m batsh!t crazy, but I do not believe anything at all anymore.

Just don’t forget that whole correlation/causation thing. Just because someone was taking medication does not inherently mean the medication was the cause of his actions.

After all, it is reasonable to assume that most of the people who are nuts are medicated. But only a tiny percentage take such actions.

I am wondering, because my legal knowledge is limited, if a lawsuit could be brought against the psychologist handling Adam Lansa’s therapy. Seems to me there would be a malpractice lawsuit if the drug therapy was inappropriate. Also, who gave Adam the information that he was going to be institutionalized? That was, it seems to me, the triggering information that started the killing spree.

During my brief career in a union shop, bipolar was the diagnosis given to rightfully fired union members in order to get their job back. So I always bipolar meant jerk.

The media will NEVER address that question; since the successful purge of Judeo-Christian morality from the public square, the world must be a dark place indeed for young people. Combine that with the absolute hopelessness many young are now facing with work/family issues (lack of worthwhile work causing many to languish in permanent “youth”), and a political situation that puts jobs and education out of reach for many young white males, and you have a disaster in the making. It is no longer “in the making”; it is here.

From another thread over a week ago I remembered I was corrected by FReeper thackney. Here’s the information from the link he gave to me at that time:

From the Fox News article thackney has posted the link:

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/12/16/at-least-26-dead-in-shooting-at-connecticut-school/

“......He then drove to the school in her car with four guns, including a shotgun that was left in the back of the vehicle, and shot up two classrooms around 9:30 a.m., police say. Police added that multiple 30-round magazines and hundreds of bullets were also found at the scene.”

“The rifle used was a Bushmaster .223-caliber, according to an official with knowledge of the investigation who was not authorized to speak about it and talked on condition of anonymity. The gun is commonly seen at competitions and was the type used in the 2002 sniper killings in the Washington, D.C., area. Also found in the school were two handguns, a Glock 10 mm and a Sig Sauer 9 mm.”

Thank you for the link thackney. Clears up the confusion. It was a shotgun left in the car NOT the .223 rifle.

That seems quite likely.

Also, I think a lot of boys are prescribed drugs to just keep them quiet. Thanks to a lack of P.E. classes, and the proliferation of video games, they don’t get enough exercise or healthy outlets for their natural male “aggression,” for lack of a better word. They become fidgety and disruptive. So teachers, often generally women, want them to calm down—and medicine seems to be the outlet.

I say this as a woman, 50, who read “The Wonder of Boys” when my son was a toddler. That being said, my son, 17, watches video games, exercises (without our pushing him), and is courteous; he holds doors open for people.

My husband and I have been married for over 22 years. We may have our problems, but Chris knows we love him and will always be there for him, no matter what. We also pray and discuss spirituality.

So I think you have a point. It’s pretty sad.
