Tiller had been shot before, and threatened many times, but continued on until he was cut down in the middle of a church service.
What's the big deal? It sounds like Tiller just survived one failed abortion, but another abortionist wouldn't take no for an answer. Tiller, himself, would surely have seen this to be right and proper. He would have also said, "If shooting me isn't legal, it should be."
For many, of course, that mission is immoral, and for some, evil.

Carhart, 72, is a registered Republican, although he admits, "I haven't voted for a Republican since Kennedy." He has been married to the same woman for decades, and calls himself a religious, though no longer churchgoing, man. In other words, he's hardly the bomb-throwing atheist baby-killer his most ardent opponents depict.
How strange that I can't recall hearing any pro-life activist characterize LeRoy Carhart as a bomb-thrower or an atheist. I guess it's something I just missed in nearly a quarter century of being a pro-lifer.
But let's see...
Bomb thrower? Not literally, and probably not figuratively, since these guys love to pretend they are pained and humble physicians called to a nearly monastic life.
Atheist? Obviously not. And he's in good company...haven't we all seen the photo of Joseph Stalin in his altar boy getup?
Baby-killer? Let's see...he stops the hearts of babies for a living. Whaddaya know, he is a baby killer?
I wonder, does the movie "After Tiller" talk at all about Christin Gilbert, the 19 year old woman with Down Syndrome who died of sepsis after her late-term pregnancy was aborted by Carhart and Tiller's clinic? Does it mention that both Tiller and Carhart invoked the Fifth Amendment to avoid testifying to a grand jury about the care Gilbert received the day she died? Somehow, I doubt it. That might get in the way of a hagiography.
Sigh. Indeed. Man's inhumanity to man. This intrinsic evil, a mother 'choosing' to kill her own child, is the work of Satan. And 'man' is so blind as to celebrate it?!

Yes, it was a really strange remark. I’m not sure he didn’t mean arbitration between the doctor and the mother,but that didn’t make much sense either.
