I hope they don’t use this as another opportunity to push gun control. The suspect is obviously mentally ill. When he was arrested not to long ago, this should have been checked into and something more done about it. But instead of laws and regulations for the mentally ill being looked at and changed/enforced they focus on gun control. Its BS and its so maddening!
And by mentally ill, I don’t mean the regular depression, etc. that any person can suffer from, but I mean crazy and delusional like the suspect here.

You’re reading my mind...They’ve shut down multiple schools, they’ve brought in the feds, the state government, SWAT teams, helicopters, state police, county sheriffs, etc...
We’re talking one suspect here with one hostage....
One article I read implied there were *hundreds* of LE in the area.
You can bet the rent, with this hysterical government response, this will cost the tax payers 75 million...

If anti-American views are what qualifies one for a dossier at the SPLC then they must have a warehouse full of stuff on most Democrats.
This will happen with increasing frequency because the press falls slobbering over themselves to gleefully report it to further their agendas.
The badguys see the glory and honor the press will give them, and for their fame and notoriety the badguys do even more acts because the press gives them immortality and an incentive to act to achieve the notoriety.

Indeed. The enterprising terrorist or evil criminal genius would be taking notes on how to get every single law enforcement entity within fifty miles away from his intended target.
But if you don’t want to put your henchman in mortal danger, just call 911 from the mall and say you saw a guy molesting a child. I saw literally half of all the squad cars of the San Jose PD on that report a couple of years ago.
SPLC specializes in promoting the new definition of “anti-American views” — Constitution, limited government, etc.

From what I’ve read - it’s sealed off, inaccessable, and probably booby-trapped. They had to shove the poor kid’s daily meds in through a PVC pipe. Dykes is reported to have said he ain’t coming out alive.
Shooting some bus driver and taking little kid hostage, this guy is obviously a mental case...
Wouldn't it make more sense just to have the local sheriff and fire department/paramedics on hand to see if they could talk this guy into releasing the kid and to come out?
Bet the rent, with SPLC, the feds, state and county governments etc involved and next thing will be the mayor and governor on TV giving speeches, turning this into some political extravaganza...

Concealed means concealed. I would worry about the fall-out after I had to use it.
If there was a Medal of Honor for civilians, no one would be more deserving than that driver.
I think you know the answer to that. If the driver was armed the kidnapper would have chosen another, more risky method. This was the easy way.
