This is not the first time WWP has done something like this. See: Wounded Warrior Project faces fallout after snubbing ‘Gun Talk’

Doesn’t Glenn Beck endorse the WWP?

This is very disappointing to me since this was one of the few charities I was still giving to.

Never send money to national organizations that claim to directly help people when there are people in need locally. You know where your money is going when you keep charity close to home and the recipients can put a face on the help they received.

Just my opinion.

Very disappointing, if true.

It’s too late to stop this years’ contribution, but I’ll definitely look to something closer to home next year.

I surrender. What is the Wounded Warrior Project?

Are these people affiliated with Obama? He despises religious people.

Haven't I heard commercials on the radio advertising these people?

What have I missed?

I am SO glad I cut them off. I was sending $25/month plus I sent a few $1000 donations.

What a bunch of lukewarm losers they are.

I have been working for a while on how I could afford to give to WWP. They reject religion and the 2nd Amendment? They just lost me.

My post on their facebook below.

I was a supporter of WWP until I heard how poorly you treated this young group of children who saved their lunch money to help the veterans. Unless you receive govt money you are not prevented by law to receive donations from any specific groups. I will be returning my next donation envelope empty with the same note. There are many other groups who help veterans who would not have denied these children the opportunity to show compassion and charity.

They don't want to anger the 1% loony Democrats by accepting money from the 70%
in America who are bible thumping, gun toting rednecks.

I got no problem with that. Our money can go elsewhere.

Well, I have to admit that I am stunned. They’ll get NO MORE donations from me. There are PLENTY of other organizations that raise money to help soldiers wounded during any of the wars, and since our retirement, we’ve had to cut back from that giving. This will allow giving to another...or giving more to one we already give to.

If Satan himself had come up from the bowels of Hell with the single intent of destroying the greatest country on earth, he couldn’t have done a better job than what Obama and his filthy democrats have done and continue to do.

Obama and his filthy democrats will not suffer from this, but our Wounded Warriors sure as hell will.

This country has become a disgusting disgrace.

Thanks for posting this. I contribute monthly. I am going to write and see what they say. I’m pretty disturbed by this, God heals wounded soldiers through the doctor’s hands.

I was pretty upset by the posting about the religious donation. I felt like some of the spokespeople for this organization were pretty reliable (like Tom Seleck and Trace Adkins) and they sure pull the heartstrings in their ads on TV. So I contacted them directly about religious donations. Here is how they responded:

Thank you for your email and interest in finding out more about Wounded Warrior Project.

Wounded Warrior Project has always welcomed religious fundraisers and donations from religious organizations. We happily accept support from many diverse groups to honor and empower Wounded Warriors.

We did turn down this potential fundraiser because it did not fit several of our giving guidelines for community events. Unfortunately, we mistakenly communicated to the church that the event was turned down because we do not accept donations from religious groups, which is not the case. We work with many diverse groups to honor and empower Wounded Warriors including religious groups. We have called the church to apologize for any confusion.

Should you like to help us fulfill our vision of the most successful and well-adjusted generation of injured service men and women in our nation’s history and would like to register an event or make a donation please feel free to do so. We encourage you to reach out. Thank you again and we hope you continue to support WWP and our mission of honoring and empowering our nation’s Wounded Warriors!

We appreciate your support!

I checked their website also for the proportion of money that goes to the mission of caring for soldiers and it looks like it ok, maybe not as good as some organizations.

Like so many things on the internet, there is such a likelihood for it to be wrong or inaccurate. Just wanted to let everybody know.

This is just another of the many reasons I stopped donating to WW. The wife and I found a much better organization where over 90% of funds raised go directly to help programs.
