DEVELOPING: A five-year-old boy who was being held hostage in an underground bunker in Alabama for nearly a week has been released, a law enforcement source, citing reports, told Fox News.
Authorities say 65-year-old Jimmy Lee Dykes shot and killed a bus driver last week in Midland City and then abducted the boy.
Dykes is now dead, the source says, and it is unclear what the boy's current condition is.

(Yes, we can debate that definition of “OK”, but I hear he is alive and safe).
Praying the little boy is okay.

Hopefully, the boy is not injured.
And hopefully, we find out more about Jimmy Lee Dykes and what made him murder and kidnap.
Did Dykes kill himself?
I'm going to read between the lines here - there are no reports from the on-site reporters of authorities having rushed the bunker or anything like that. I'd have to conclude, then, that Dykes must have released the kid and then off'd himself.
Thank God this is over. Prayers for the little boy.
I gotta say that “Dykes is now dead” with no follow-up whatsoever, indeed much of the rest of the article speaks of him in the present tense, boggles my mind.

Just glad that the Algerian military wasn’t called on to assist in the rescue.

One other point: I’m seeing reports of media and sheriff’s dept. personnel “praising” the dirtbag for “caring for” the boy during this last week. Many are reacting badly when they hear this. I’ll just go on record to note that we had a situation in which the kidnapper was both (a) clearly unstable; and (b) possibly watching TV about himself.
As a direct result, news reports needed to be careful what they said for fear of possibly causing a disaster - not because of some semblance of sympathy for the perp, but precisely because of fear about what he might otherwise do.

Okay, I’m wrong: FBI recovered the kid by force - Dykes did not off himself. Nice job!!
FBI SAC Richardson reporting that they entered the bunker to regain the child and the bad guy is deceased.
FBI went in the bunker to rescue the boy. These LEs are not giving much information other than the boy is safe and being treated at a local hospital.
Obama need to release a statement saying that if you have a problem with any Government agency do not take it out on children but go to the source.
