Whats more disgusting is that Freepers piled on like MSNBC liberals. And on this very thread try to excuse their actions.

It was like watching Invasion of the Body Snatchers and the French surrender to the Nazis...surrender, appeasement defeat. Unreasonable overreaction, imo.

Sorry you’re all wrong about Christine O’Donnell. She should have been a winner. Rove did her in. It was that election which started me against Rove.

I don't think she had any hope of winning. DE is a blue state and Mike Castle is probably as red as DE is comfortable with. O'Donnell was a bit of a doofus, so that did not help. But for Rove to pile on was just retarded. That was Rove's ego talking. Of course, conservative GOP figures do return the favor by stepping all over moderate GOP candidates. The 11th Commandment, namely "Thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow Republican" appears to have fallen by the wayside.

And Marco Rubio has a 100% lifetime rating by the ACU. And yet he is constantly attacked here as RINO. Either political ratings by the ACU and the like can become distorted or manipulated to a great extent by experienced politicians, or Freepers are needlessly attacking one of the strongest conservative in the Senate. Heck, John McCain has an 83% rating by the ACU.

I trust these number-based ratings services for politicians about as far as I can throw them. You have to look at their individual votes on important bills, and what changes they might have made to them. Remember how Ron Paul loaded up bills he knew were going to pass with local-kickbacks, and then voted against them, so he could claim that he “voted against earmarks”?

I maintain that as with all things, the actions of people determine their conservatism. People get offended when called on their actions and the “How dare you question my conservatism!” indignation flies.

How dare I? I think the answer is self-evident. Conservatives do not trash conservatives. The PDSers attacking Palin like DU rejects is game, set, match on that account. Akin screwed up. I agree. But to throw away a 90+% solid vote to demonstrate their liberalism was the act of an idiot party filled with idiot supporters who see nothing wrong and ‘we’ are the fools..

They do not like seeing the truth in print. It offends them.

I don’t care. Their liberal/moderate BS led to Romney. Great plan that was. Real solid conservative there. Surely he would have not instilled Romneycare or anti gun policies, or gay rights or....

Funny. The very same people trashing Akin were the people who pushed Romney the hardest on FR.....Hmmmmm...

Until Rubio went native, he WAS pretty solid.

Now he’’s just another Amnesty pusher. Sure numbers are not the whole story. There are many considerations. But Akin was not nearly the lib that his replacement is. He WAS largely conservative. He NEVER went 180 on core conservative principles.

Rubio just did. And is pushing hard for it. Yet none of the Akin hate club is bitching a fraction as much as this affront to America.

Why?

Rubio is much more toxic on conservatism now than Akin ever was.

Absolutely. The GOP will use his heritage as the excuse to push amnesty even harder.

And here I thought the political right thought the content of character, not skin color was what mattered. Especially on FR.

Foolish me.

Well we recall that race differently then.

Then again, I was observing it from across the country.

I thought she could win. Would have liked to have seen that.

But his core conservatism, as displayed by his stellar voting record, was what mattered.

So where did all of that get you? Another six years of Claire McCaskill. As long as you continue to plod on in search of your quest, a real conservative who cannot win, you will never find what you need, a conservative with political power. There were plenty of conservatives in Missouri who could have beaten McCaskill, Akin was perhaps the only one who could not. Congratulations.

your response is brain dead. I’ll type very slowly to see if you might possibly get this.

I agree with Akin on almost all the issues.
I like his voting record.
But he’s an embarrasing fraudulent ass beyond that, which is why McCaskill voters voted for him and contributed to him in the primary.
Don’t you get that?
That is no contradiction on my part, and if you can’t see that, then yes, you have flunked the most basic of logic. Yes, you have proven no understanding of cause and effect, no understanding of causation and association.

People like Norm have so much emotional hatred of Rove that they can’t think straight, if at all. I have total disdain for Rove, owned the web name www.firekarlrove.com since 2001 - yes, 2001, back when Norm probably loved Rove. (it wil be back up soon too). And yet, Rove is not part of the Akin story other than he is among many who doesn’t like akin. My contempt for Akin is totally separate from my contempt for Rove. Some people have decided that they will like anyone simply because Rove doesn’t. While that may be an accurate guide for the most part, it is not in this case.

You are right, there are many great conservatives in Mizzou that would have routed Claire. Akin was not one of them, but he selfishly kept running and paying his wife and son out of donations from suckers who gave to his campaign.

I didn’t love O Donnell, but Rove was a much bigger factor in her race than with Akin. Akin had many many detractors not named Rove. O Donnell was a situation where it was pure tea party v establishment. The other thing about O Donnell is that the Republican she beat was a liberal ass. Akin beat one good and one very good conservative in the primary, thanks to Dem voters. Thus the Akin and O Donnell situations are not at all the same.

Lets type even slower.

You support the people who tanked his campaign. You think that was a wise choice. Thus, you lack the mental clarity to see your stupidity.

Effect: Akin lost election
Cause: ‘Conservatives’ trashed him and his record because he said a stupid thing. They learned nothing from their stupidity and try defending themselves, and those who, to quote Bronco, “Acted Stupidly”.

I understand that quite well. I also know I am right because...

A: Conservatives in name only trashed Akin, Backed the GOP’s decision to pull funding/trash him publicly, and

B: can read election results.

Now if you want to think that a party cutting it’s own throat to pacify moderates is a smart thing, You do that.
