I believe the riverrunner is pointing out how the left has made this inevitable. He, just like you, would like to see an end to this, but it will only be through exposing the left’s vote gathering by “honoring” the native American tribes so called sovereignty.
The problems of sexual abuse, like the case mentioned in this article, and huge incest numbers, on the Reservations are abysmal. IMHO the reservations should be sold by the acre to whomever in the tribe of that reservation wants and can afford it. The moneys can go to whomever the tribe leadership wishes. Then there are no more people living on the reservations, just privately owned land in the United States, policed by city, county, state and federal law enforcement just like anyone else. The remaining land could be used by the tribes however they see fit. No more moneys from federal or state coffers, they gotta make it on their own, or pack up and leave to try their luck at something else. This should cause assimilation to the real world, and give the kids and women a chance.
Why are we worried about Indian women. are the words of a knucklehead, not a thoughtful discussion about the problems of the reservation. It simply plays into leftist stereotypes about republicans and hurts the cause of conservatism where we might otherwise change some minds.
If we all want the sad situation to change (and I think we all do), we do it by changing hearts and minds one at a time. Backhandedly dismissing people (and children no less) because they have fallen for leftist lies does more harm than good.
Believe me, I’m there actually talking to people on a fairly regular basis. I understand very well.
