Paralympic champion Oscar Pistorius, the double-amputee athlete who became famous as the 'Blade Runner' when he competed in the 2012 Olympic Games, has been charged with the murder of his girlfriend after model Reeva Steenkamp was shot inside his South African home.

Steenkamp, a model who spoke out on Twitter against rape and abuse of women, was shot four times in the predawn hours in the home, in a gated community in the capital, Pretoria, police said.

#1 order of home defense. IDENTIFY THE TARGET. So he plugs his GF 4 times. And accidentally? Come on. Lives in a high walled security community with armed guards. This POS is a nut job. Prison will look good on him.

It was a travesty that he was even allowed to compete in the Olympics.

The more I’ve been reading about this, it starting to sound less like a tragic case of mistaken identity and more like straight-up murder.

She was shot in the arm (or hand) in the chest, and then in the head. The wound to the arm/hand is a classic defensive wound, like when someone throws their arms or hands in front of them to shield themselves. Not that it would do any good against a 9mm bullet, but it’s an instinctual reaction, of course.

The South African police have said they’ve been called to the residence before on domestic violence issues.

Doesn’t sound too good for Mr. Pistorius. The police are opposing bail, and they’ve charged him with murder, not manslaughter, which you’d expect if it was “accidental”.

Not going to go well in court, he doesn’t have a leg to stand on.

Heh. All dark humor aside, I feel sad for the family of the deceased, whether this was an accidental shooting or deliberate. Aside from being beautiful, she was quite an accomplished young woman from what I’ve read.

Very unfortunate and tragic incident, all in all.

hard to say how someone can bounce back from something like this, even if it was accidental..sad regardless.
