(CNSNews.com) A group of House Democrats labeling themselves the Safe Climate Caucus held a press conference today to warn that if Congress does not address global warming, the country could face dire consequences, including detrimental effects to California wines and an end to Vermont skiing.
One Democratic representative even worried that global warming could destroy the state of Maryland.
If we do nothing about what is happening, it will destroy our economy, it will destroy our state, and it will have a broad impact not just here in this country but around the world, Maryland Rep. Donna Edwards (D-Md.) said at a press conference on Capitol Hill on Friday.
Representative Jared Huffman (D-Calif.) feared that global warming could damage the ancient forests and vineyards in his district.
Climate change is going to impact my coastal district not just in terms of coastal communities and infrastructure but also the health of our oceans and coastal fisheries, Huffman said.
It will impact the great ancient forests in my district [and] it will even threaten to impact the world-class quality of the wine produced in Sonoma and Mendocino counties, he said.
Representative Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.) worried there might not be any skiing in Vermont and that the states famous maple trees could also be threatened by global warming.
In introducing Vermont Rep. Peter Welch (D-Vt.), Blumenauer said Welch comes from the state of Vermont that climate change is going to have there will no longer be skiing and even the maple trees will be threatened.
Despite the dramatic claims, Rep. Edwards insisted that she and her colleagues were not alarmists.
The fact is that those of us who are here are not alarmists, we are not eco-hystericals, were not socialists, she said. We care about our climate and we want to do something about it.
Destroying MD as we know it is a bad thing?
I did read something one time that global warming had it in for Maryland.
We care about our climate and we want to do something about it.
I think this will be my new tagline. It has a nice ring to it.
Global Warming will destroy Maryland? Bring it on!
Maryland “Freak State” PING!
There may be a tiny bit of truth to this. We are already seeing the extinction of the Pachyderm Party. Last time “climate change” hit, we lost the woolly mammoth.
Good point, especially if there’s collateral damage to DC.
But what I can’t understand is, why “we” even allow “global warming” and “climate change” to be uttered without challenge. If, every time some loon says crap like this they were challenged, laughed-at, and ridiculed - we’d have won this debate.
Next time you hear a liberal say “climate change”, just imagine you were a liberal who’d just been told that Sarah Palin was the smartest woman on the planet — and react as they would.
It is obvious that being a House Democrat requires no real intelligence. I mean, who cares about the economy? Fraudulent “Global Warming” and banning gun are more important.
They must have pissed off Earth somehow, that is a pretty specific threat
Yeah, with them, it’s the same old, same old. Still funny as hell, thought.
We can live without it.
I can't find a down side to it, actually.
A Red State can give Dr. Ben Carson asylum. MD can then be replaced by Puerto Rico.
It will be a blessing if it gets Baltimore!
The only way to really fight moonbat leftists like this, is to distribute flyers in predominantly democrat areas, in cartoon format like Jehovah’s witness or mormon literature, with pictures of modern Detroit and Hiroshima, and explains to the reader that liberal policies have destroyed more cities than nuclear weapons.
Oooh, now Chris Matthews will say that "House Democrat" is a racist code term, like house slave or something...
Takoma Park will be first to go.
