Two women whose truck was riddled with bullets fired by Los Angeles police officers in a case of mistaken identity during the pursuit of fugitive ex-cop Christopher Dorner will a receive $40,000 cash settlement to replace their vehicle.

At a news conference Thursday afternoon, City Atty. Carmen Trutanich announced the deal reached between city officials and the women's attorney, Glen Jonas. Officials stressed that this deal was to compensate the women for the loss of the truck and is separate from any discussions regarding potential litigation involving the LAPD shooting incident in Torrance.

After looking at the picture....you wonder how either lady survived the shooting. Personally, I would have sued the city for a million bucks.

-—offered a used truck——WTH ?

Someone in the LAPD needs to hire a public relations person...who isn’t clueless. ..

They obviously retained inadequate legal representation.

These two women should OWN the LAPD.

They are...the $40,000 each woman is getting is for buying a new truck and covering the taxes they were told they have to pay for it. The personal injury and damages litigation is still moving forward.

The article clearly states that this is merely the replacement of the vehicle and has nothing to do with any other claims they may have. It’s not a final settlement.

No, this money is only to replace their truck (after the perpetually clueless LAPD offered to give them a used truck)---their claims for personal injury and damages are still active.

By the looks of the bullet riddled truck, charges should be brought agains’t the police for “reckless use of a firearm”.

Getting a new truck is only the beginning. The pending lawsuit (I have not seen or read) might name a bunch of cops including the entire LAPD. Pass the popcorn.

Some pay money for stickers to have their truck look like that.

Something stinks here.

Your life comes within inches a ending and you settle for a replacement truck?

Probably illegals and were threatened to be deported.

If anyone ever earned the right to lose their “right to bear arms”, it’s the LAPD.
Firing without being sure of the target is criminal carelessness.

When you are in total control, you don't need public relations.

The LAPD attempt to fix this was as insane as the incident. Dumb Dumb Dumb

“But then the dealership and LAPD officials said the truck would be considered a prize for tax purposes, Jonas said. “Essentially, they’d have to pay taxes like they won it on a game show.”

“Jonas said the situation has been compounded by the fact that the women haven’t been able to work since being injured.”

TF to LAPD

This is NO GAME SHOW!

TAXPAYERS pay for individuals’ misdeeds, because they are “government employees”, IMMUNE TO PERSONAL LIABILITY.

they are “government employees”, IMMUNE TO PERSONAL LIABILITY.

Provided they act without actual malice, which appears to be the case here. Still, this should put a serious dent in their career ambitions.

The paper ladies’ truck with all the holes in it needs to be enshrined at the LAPD shooting range.

The settlement for a new truck is INDEPENDENT of the lawsuit. They’re still suing.
