Anyone who does not think our FBI is the modern day equivalent to the STASI, KGB, or the GESTAPO isn’t thinking.

I actually give them credit here. They are finding out why Mother Jones has confidential and protected meeting recordings. This is espionage, pure and simple.

And yet, the FBI has NOT been asked to investigate whether the planned new, improved super-collection all-source data gathering efforts to sift through gigazillions of bits of electronic private data re: American Citizens.

There is no agency in this government now that has not been infected with the Ovirus.

“how Mother Jones, a liberal magazine, obtained a recording of political aides meeting with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell “

Uh, because the libs bugged the room?
It’s safe to assume all buildings in DC have listening devices in them, everywhere.
Even the liberal rooms because someone has to keep the party faithful on the path.
Dissent is to be squashed, how else would they do that if they didn’t listen in on the party faithful discussing pimples and yogurt in the mens room?

This will go exactly the same direction, and the same results as with that cute old couple who just happened to be following Newt Gingrich on the interstate with a cell phone receiver (and coincidentally, recorder)... exactly nowhere if it implicates a liberal entity.

The imperative of this story and investigation will concentrate on the “seriousness of the charges” and the bad things Republicans did - even if they are fracking RINOS.

They have to. The Senate Minority Leader has a lot of pull.

Here's more from CBS News:

Jesse Benton, a McConnell campaign adviser, blasted "the left" for what he called "Nixonian tactics" in acquiring the recording.

"We've always said the left would stop at nothing to attack Sen. McConnell but Nixonian tactics to bug campaign headquarters is above and beyond," he told CBSNews.com in an email. "This is Watergate tactics."

Benton says the campaign is "working with the FBI" to discern the source of the recording, and he suggested there might be a subsequent criminal investigation.

"Senator McConnell's campaign is working with the FBI and has notified the local U.S. Attorney in Louisville, per FBI request, about these recordings," Benton told CBSNews.com." Obviously a recording device of some kind was placed in Senator McConnell's campaign office without consent. By whom and how that was accomplished will presumably be the subject of a criminal investigation."

CBS also published details of the recorded conversations from the Mother Jones article.

Interesting. Mitch McConnell says he’ll join the filibuster on gun control, Obama threatens the senate republicans over it and now there’s an investigation.

Wouldn't surprise me if it was one of the aides.

From NRO:

According to a McConnell insider, there’s no chance that one of the participants in that meeting leaked the tape. The conference room in which the discussion was held was locked, and it wasn’t a big meeting: Only about six people were present, all longtime McConnell loyalists.

Headline slant gives the impression that McConnell is being investigated.

First sentence says it is Mother Jones Magazine that is being investigated.

Unintentional, I’m sure. [/s]

Disloyal staffer with an open mike cell phone, or a virus loaded onto a loyal staffer’s cell phone?

I’ll bet that one of the people in the room was not as loyal as the others think.
