This Is What Intolerance Smells Like

President Obama's new "religious tolerance" consultant to the Pentagon, Mikey Weinstein, wants Christian military service members who openly talk about their faith in uniform to be charged with treason, which is a crime punishable by death according to military law.

By employing his consulting services, and as Commander-in-Chief, President Obama is effectively endorsing Weinstein's recently voiced and written views such as: "Today, we face incredibly well-funded gangs of fundamentalist Christian monsters who terrorize their fellow Americans by forcing their weaponized [sic] and twisted version of Christianity upon their helpless subordinates in our nation's armed forces."

Weinstein's inflamed word picture helps the rest of us understand what the world looks like to those who live with their eyes wide shut and sort of sounds like that old cereal commercial... except this time Mikey doesn't like it - Christianity, that is, so no one else should. And Mikey's giving the rest of us an object lesson in intolerance by showing us what liberal secularists are about: "It's our way, or we shut you down." In this case, Obama's anti-Christian hit man, Weinstein, proposes that honorable men and women in the military who speak about their faith should be charged with a crime worthy of capital punishment. Smells like bull to me.

In recent months, there has been a push against Christianity in the military. A few notables include a military training instructor labeling Jews, Christians, Catholics and Mormons as extremists alongside al Qaeda. The Army blocked a Southern Baptist website, citing it displayed "hostile content," (the Pentagon has since blamed it on a malware glitch), and an Army email was distributed warning fellow soldiers to beware of Christian ministry "hate groups." Each of these incidents could be reasoned-away individually, but they all have one thing in common: Intolerance has an unmistakable stench.

News has it that Mr. Weinstein endorsed the Southern Poverty Law Center's recent statement listing certain Christian organizations as hate groups. He also whole-heartedly agreed with comments made by radical Army Lt. Col. Jack Rich, who told his subordinates to be on the lookout for dangerous Christian soldiers who should be expelled from the military for their beliefs.

Lauding the Lt. Colonel's statement in a Huffington Post anti-Christian hit piece April 16, Weinstein said, "We should as a nation effusively applaud Lt. Col. Rich," and said America should go further to "vigorously support the continuing efforts to expose pathologically anti-gay, Islamaphobic, and rabidly intolerant agitators for what they are: die-hard enemies of the United States Constitution. Monsters, one and all. To do anything less would be to roll out a red carpet to those who would usher in a blood-drenched, draconian era of persecutions, nationalistic militarism, and superstitious theocracy."

Gee, if I didn't know better, I'd think he was speaking about why we are fighting the war on terror.

Religious intolerance reached the proverbial Foggy Bottom in the same article when Weinstein described Christians as "those evil fundamentalist Christian creatures" who hide behind the "facades" of "family values" and "religious liberty." The same attributes could be also pinned to America's founders, whom I suppose Mr. Intolerance would also deem as subversives.

It is obvious, foamy-mouthed Mikey has a bone to pick with Christians, and he's found an effective way to get what he wants by working for the president and the president's new military "yes man" Secretary Chuck Hagel.

Our fine men and women of the military, who are part of a historically noble institution, deserve so much better but are once again the punching bag at the expense of this intolerant administration.

For the first time in five decades, I am advising young Americans NOT to join the U.S. military.

It has been perverted.

I would suggest all Christians remove themselves from the Military. Smells like a serious Zot in the air to me.

"The Obama administration’s Department of Defense was caught training U.S. troops that Catholics, orthodox Jews, and evangelical Christians are to be considered “religious extremists,” even equating the major religions representing more than half of Americans with truly violent groups such as al-Qaeda, the Ku Klux Klan, and Hamas. After the explosive revelations hit the headlines, outrage promptly ensued. Now, critics are calling for an immediate public apology to the soldiers exposed to the hateful propaganda, as well as to the Christian and Jewish communities targeted in the presentation.

The latest scandal to hit the Obama administration and its handling of the military surrounds a so-called “Equal Opportunity” training course [33-pg PDF file] presented to U.S. Army Reserve forces in Pennsylvania. During the presentation, troops were subjected to a slideshow that included a segment on what was dubbed “religious extremism.” At the top of the list — the very first item — was “evangelical Christianity” in the United States. Also included were “ultra-Orthodox” Jews, Catholicism, fundamentalist Mormons, and “Islamophobia.”

PENTAGON TAPS ANTI-CHRISTIAN EXTREMIST [Weinstein] FOR RELIGIOUS TOLERANCE POLICY [April 28, 2013]

"Today, we face incredibly well-funded gangs of fundamentalist Christian monsters who terrorize their fellow Americans by forcing their weaponized and twisted version of Christianity upon their helpless subordinates in our nation’s armed forces."

Those words were recently written by Mikey Weinstein, founder of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF), in a column he wrote for the Huffington Post. Weinstein will be a consultant to the Pentagon to develop new policies on religious tolerance, including a policy for court-martialing military chaplains who share the Christian Gospel during spiritual counseling of American troops.

Weinstein decries what he calls the “virulent religious oppression” perpetrated by conservative Christians, whom he refers to as “monstrosities” and “pitiable unconstitutional carpetbaggers,” comparing them to “bigots” in the Deep South during the civil rights era.

Well....we can't say they didn't warn us. The path is clear.

They just appointed a rabid Christian-hater who pens virulent anti-Christian vomit, worthy of a jihadist imam, to develop military policies on religious tolerance.

Wake me up from this nightmare. The Left has absolutely no clue as to what common sense is; appointing an extremely intolerant individual to develop policies on religious tolerance. Sureeee makes plenty of sense. I think we have reached the days Isaiah spoke about where good is called evil and vice versa. I’m guessing God has put the charcoals in the pit and is about to light ‘em. I’m guessing Jesus is assembling his army as well...

You have to understand what the terms mean!

“religious tolerance” MEANS “virulently anti-Christian”

Things like this are starting to make me glad I was turned down for military service. I’m an atheist myself, but I do believe in freedom of religion and freedom of expression for all, and any government that wants to punish soldiers for nothing more than a belief isn’t promoting a military devoted to the defense of freedom.

This guy is as bad as it gets. Even after Obama was elected, I never suspected he would openly allow such extreme bigotry. He not only allows it, he is pushing it.

Obama is proving that my worst fears about what he would do were not extreme enough.

You both know that I deeply respect each of you. However, as a retired Chaplain, I will disagree. We do not want to leave our military to atheistic, immoral puppets of a would-be socialist dictator. We want the resistance to be INSIDE the military more than any other institution in society.

This is EXACTLY the time for Americans to join the military in droves and violate this illegal order.

It is against regulation to obey an illegal order, and there is no doubt this is an illegal order.

"Witnessing" (proclaiming Jesus to others) is a religious observance for every Christian denomination I know of, except for perhaps "The Primitive Baptist Church".

It is ILLEGAL for any governmental group to demand that a religious group NOT follow their religion's religious observances.

It was said best by Pope John Paul II: "No believer in Christ, no institution of the Church can avoid this supreme duty: to proclaim Christ to all people."

The Pope, of course, got that from Jesus, who in Mark 16 said: "15 He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation"

There can be NO DOUBT: "proclaiming Jesus" is MORE a religious observance for Christians than is most anything else in our Christian faith.

Telling Christians NOT to proclaim is no different than telling Christians that they are not permitted to practice their religion.

Army FM 1-05 says:

1-4. At every echelon of the force, the chaplaincy is the Army’s primary agency for ensuring the right to free exercise of religion for Soldiers on behalf of the commander. The chaplains and chaplain assistants, from the Chief of Chaplains down to battalion UMTs, fulfill this core and essential responsibility. Based upon the requirements of the operational mission, a Soldier exercises this right in a number of ways to include:

- Worshipping according to one’s faith.
- Seeking religious counsel and care.
- Keeping holy days and observances.
- Participating in rites, sacraments, and ordinances.
- Practicing dietary laws.

One can't "keep observances" such as "witnessing", if one is prevented from doing so. The only way to tell a soldier that he/she can't "keep an observance" of his religion is to force him to follow a different religion.

We will not give in. We will not leave the field of battle to the socialists!

But could that be what they want-for all Christians to quit or not join the military?

Could they be the soldiers that would hesitate or worse )in their eyes), not follow orders to shoot citizens?

I think that is their end game—just think of an army full of atheists and muslims rolling down your street to check for guns in your home—very scary thought.

Nothing personal, but the United States could never have been created by atheists, and won’t be able to continue without God.

I was attending college on an athletic scholarship in 1969. I was engaged to a girl at another school and was also head over heels in love with her. Then she broke up with me and married a boy who attended her college.

I just went to the draft board and told them to draft me. I traveled from Defuniak Springs to Montgomery, Alabama with two other boys. One was extremely skinny and the other very obese.

Guess what? they took them both and turned me down for poor hearing. It was true that I had damaged my hearing from shooting without hearing protection but I never dreamed it was that bad.

My Father was disappointed but Mother was overjoyed. I skipped the rest of the quarter and started back in 1970. I learned later through a mutual friend that my old GF had put off her wedding until two years later and after I had become engaged to another girl.

When questioned on the rights of Christians hiring employees of their choice, Chai Feldblum stated “Gays win; Christians lose.”

This is what they’re after. Christians lose. Christians persecuted. Christians exterminated.
