The manhunt for the Boston Marathon bombing suspects offered the nation a window into the stunning military-style capabilities of our local law enforcement agencies. For the past 30 years, police departments throughout the United States have benefitted from the government’s largesse in the form of military weaponry and training, incentives offered in the ongoing “War on Drugs.” For the average citizen watching events such as the intense pursuit of the Tsarnaev brothers on television, it would be difficult to discern between fully outfitted police SWAT teams and the military.
The lines blurred even further Monday as a new dynamic was introduced to the militarization of domestic law enforcement. By making a few subtle changes to a regulation in the U.S. Code titled “Defense Support of Civilian Law Enforcement Agencies” the military has quietly granted itself the ability to police the streets without obtaining prior local or state consent, upending a precedent that has been in place for more than two centuries. .............

There’s very little that your typical donut eater likes more than getting dressed up in his attack suit and pretending he’s a Navy SEAL.
Unfortunately, this is a phenomenon that is nothing new, and has been seen growing by leaps and bounds nation-wide.

This de facto nullification isn’t lost on the DoD.
Yes. But the real soldiers, young dedicated men are accustomed to carrying upwards of 100 pounds of more on their backs long distances.
Many of these LEO/SWAT Rambo fat-assed wannabes would struggle to carry that extra dozen pack of donuts with them.

There is a process set up so that if a president is incapacitated, his successor is pre-determined.
This is an end run on the powers assigned to the Executive Branch of our government.
The military should NEVER take control on it’s own. It must remain at the direction of the existing POTUS.
Practice and LAW are two different things. They still would violate that act. Granted, the prosecution of that violation is left with the DOJ or the Executive, and with this current band of evil destroyers, Justice would not be served.
Yet, they do this at their peril. They violated the act at Waco, likely at Ruby Ridge too, but not ‘proven’. For this they have earned the lifelong enmity of a lot of people. A lot of people that value freedom, the protection of the Constitution, and the willingness to impart that injustice to their heirs and anyone else who will listen. They also incur the potential for re-action.
At one time I believed the military would be our ally.

True dat, and what is even more worrisome to me than the weapons and the attack suits is the military mentality. When they were looking for the Boston bombers, they sometimes (not all) tossed any pretense of courtesy or even gun safety out the window. I saw pics and videos of families who were obviously not the bombers being run out of their homes with live weapons pointed at them. I saw one disturbing pic of a cop on top of an armored vehicle sighting in on a photographer with his finger on the trigger. Not to condemn law enforcement, but somtimes when they have the attack suits on, they get an attitude that “your rights are whatever the hell I tell you to do”.

And LEOs need to remember that they too are civilians.
Your tax dollars at work. Each one of the full-auto ARS (machine guns) they hold have so much extra crap on them, likely paid at inflated prices, the cost approaches 3-5 thousand each (e.g., they have EOTech sights, that are 5-600 minimum).
One guy with some black tips and a Garand at standoff range would drop each one.
