Libya's loot: South African banks may hold $1B in gold, diamonds stolen by Qaddafi

More than a billion dollars in cash, gold and diamonds believed looted by late Libyan strongman Muammar Qaddafi during his 40-year reign may have been found socked away in South Africa -- just a fraction of the wealth the dead dictator is suspected of stealing.

Libyan investigators, who believe Qaddafi may have taken as much as $100 billion of his North African nation’s wealth, have zeroed in on $1 billion or more being held by four banks and two security companies in South Africa, according to The Sunday Times of South Africa.

Libyan authorities, who are working with the Arab League and Interpol, believe stolen assets are squirreled away all over the world. The stolen loot is the sum of years of treating one of the world’s richest countries as his own piggy bank, according to Prof. Shaul Gabbay, a Middle East expert and senior scholar at the University of Denver.

“There was,of course, no transparency and he and his family's dealings with the nation’s wealth was as if it was their own,” said Gabbay. “This includes total control of the management of state and personal bank accounts.

“People who worked in auditing or government ministries would be afraid for their and their family's lives if they would raise any concern,” he added.

Globalism wants the assets.

Same as they did not return the Tsar’s wealth that was held in foreign banks.

The bigtime looting is done by international banking.

And now that Libya will be “welcomed” into the international banking regime, the Libyan population will be working to pay off government debt to international banking.

Hey, Libya does have one thing in common with many other nations !

It’s only “stolen” if it was against Libyan law for him to take it. For an Islamic dictator, Qaddafi was particularly generous and pro-development in Libya.

He was a big fan of education for both men and women, and Libya has a sky high literacy rate, 95.6% for men and 82.7% for women (the US kind of fudges on this statistic, equating five years of schooling with literacy, though we have many illiterate high school graduates.)

He also spent a vast amount of money on the Great Manmade River Project to enrich and “green” Libya. The total cost of the project is projected at more than US$25 billion. Libya claims to have completed the work to date without the financial support of major countries or loans from world banks.

How Much Gold Reserve has Egypt got!!?

“Former Tunisian first lady Laila Ben Ali is said to leave or rather escape the country taking with her about 1.5 tons of gold from the Tunisian central bank. The Tunisian officials denied this on the Tunisian TV and considered it as a rumor. The Tunisian officials claimed that Tunisia did not own 1.5 tons of gold in the first place.

Well our dear Tunisian activists made a quick search in the World gold council websiteand found out that in December 2010 Tunisia got or used to have 6.8 tons. Now if the Tunisian officials lie and say Tunisia has not got gold reserve then logically they are lying about Laila’s theft. Well now Tunisians have got 4.3 tons gold reserve thank God. Now this made me ask : how much gold reserve has Egypt got?....
https://mediachecker.wordpress.com/2013/05/31/gold-in-the-egyptian-south/

Many of these countries have gold, silver, copper etc. in the ground leaving land a high commodity. In the US millions of acres are owned by the government in the name of preservation. The first signature Obama wrote when first elected was stealing thousands of acres more...he’s not the only guilty party world for world wild life.

Egypt has known gold in the south - the land is owned by Canadians or Americans. One has to know that the French, British, Belgiuns, own thousands of acres from the history.

Exactly.

But apparently he ran afoul of the central banking establishment, i.e., globalism.

Libya was not a member of the Bank of International Settlements system.

Amazingly during the revolution they formed a new Central Bank and signed on to whatever international banking wanted.

Of course, sometimes globalism dumps their own guy because the situation has changed.

Here's a somewhat related story that was linked in the bottom of the original story. It doesn't look like it got posted here back in 2011.

'Treasure of Benghazi' Stolen in One of the Biggest Heists in Archaeological History

A priceless collection of 7,700 gold, silver and bronze coins from ancient times -- known as the Treasure of Benghazi -- was stolen when a gang drilled through the concrete ceiling of an underground vault in the Libyan city earlier this year.

An expert described it last week as "one of the greatest thefts in archaeological history," with many of the items dating from the time of Alexander the Great.

It is impossible to give a value for the hoard but a single ancient Greek coin from Carthage was sold this month for the record price of $431,000 at auction in Paris, The (London) Sunday Times reported.

...

At the time the city was battling for survival against Qaddafi's troops. Benghazi had been the first city to fall to the rebels but still came under sustained attack from Qaddafi loyalists.

As well as the coins, the hoard of antiquities included jewelry, medallions, bracelets, anklets, necklaces, earrings, rings and gold armbands. About 50 small monuments and figurines of bronze, glass and ivory are missing and also a small cache of precious stones.

Globalist factions can get away with this type of mission since they are sanctioned by the folks running international banking, which have backdoor control over US diplomatic, military and intelligence operations via their operatives in virtually top-level positions in those departments.

This is what happened, for example, with an awful lot of gold that came out of the Third Reich into Switzerland.

Thomas H. McKittrick was an American that served as the President of the Bank for International Settlements before, during and after WWII. It is admitted today by the various globalist “stronghold” institutions that he knowingly accepted gold that was falsely cast as pre-war gold. These institutions can admit this fact without damaging the world financial oligarchy because so many people refuse to acknowledge connections between the oligarchy and universities. Incidentally, after the war Thomas came back and worked for Chase National Bank, then went on to round out his career with a couple international finance positions.

Once you control intelligence services, you have their full power at your disposal, including both operational execution and secrecy; you can also keep the military, law enforcement and the press away from private operations that you sanction, under the umbrella of “national security” and “state secrets”. This is how the Nazi gold dealings were kept from the public for so long.

Sorry to anyone who prefers head-in-sand, though, because this one is not a “theory”, it’s an admitted fact.

Great link - thanks Pan. One can’t help but notice that the corporate media is silent on this when compared to Bush - Iraq and Afghanistan. Clinton got away with it in the Balkans as well.

There used to exist on the web, a story about 84 billion deposited in a Honduras Bank, including 14 billion in gold and silver, however the story has been washed clean from the web.

This wealth is one reason why the Libyan resistance created a new national bank. It raised eyebrows as weird until you realize it is to become a legitimate entity to receive Ghadaffi’s loot.
