“That stuff IS child porn”

Presumably you’ve seen the stuff so you have the advantage over me. However I only ask as a matter of interest how can it be “child” porn when it involves animated characters made up of ink and or computer pixels and not, you know, actual children?

I am very wary of giving governments the rights to ban things just because they don’t like it. Child pornography is a heinous crime involving criminal acts inflicted on real-life children.

To the best of my knowledge this hentai stuff is cartoon drawings, cartoon drawings you might find offensive in which case you are entirely at liberty not to look at them, but what right do you have to determine whether someone wants to look at cartoon drawings that have involved no criminal activity whatsoever?

Just for the record at what point does it become a criminal act? When the artist first puts ink to paper? When he starts to color it in? How do you determine exactly the “age” of a cartoon figure? Where is the legal break off, if he draws a cartoon figure that he says is 16 is that ok? Or must it be 18? How big must the sexual organs be to determine the age of the cartoon figure? You see how damned absurd this is?

Child pornography is a crime, crimes must be punished. Drawing ridiculous pictures of stupid cartoon figures no matter how “offensive” they may be should not be anyone else’s business, once you start allowing the government to determine how cartoonists draw pictures you have given away the First Amendment.
