It’s funny how the AP wants information on concealed carry permit holders, yet they scream like stuck pigs when the NSA under the 0bama regime spies on them.
The “why” is obvious: to “out” the permit holders and try to make them social pariahs, in pursuance of the “progressive” jihad against gun owners.
The AP is merely another branch of the Progressive/Dem’s info gathering and propoganda spewer....State-Run-Media has the fools who listen to them indoctrinated into thinking the “News” is actually factual.
As far as I’m concerned the Associated Press is a foreign entity even though it has its headquarters in the United States. It long ago ceased being an American organization.
They have no right to information just because they ask for it. They are our outright enemies IMO.
Investigate MuckRock News and why this is their business!
Where in the Constitution does it say that our weapons must be “registered”?
This government can go to Hell.
A group of concealed weapon permit holders in Montana need to meet and have a little “talk” with this scumbag Matt Gouras.
Here in Maine, The Bangor Daily News tried to pull this stunt earlier this year and attempted to obtain a list of concealed weapons permit holders in Maine for “research purposes.”
It created a firestorm, and both republicans and democrats joined forces in the legislature and quickly passed a bill making it illegal to divulge the names and other personal information about concealed carry Maine citizens. Our republican governor signed the bill.
As soon as the MSM folks obtain and publicize a list of al of its folks who have carry permits 9or even own guns), we will consider giving them the phone book so they can do further “research”.
This is a pretty clear call. The most these scoundrels can claim is a “public interest” in revealing that information. But this does not balance at all with the “actual harm” caused to these people by the public release of their information.
However, the best bet is for the state to “go Arizona”, and invalidate the need for *any* CWP for a person who may legally own a gun. This works very well in Arizona, and would almost certainly work very well in Montana, plus it would save the state and local governments millions of dollars.
(While the gun controllers then point out that Arizona ranks at either 7th or 11th among “gun homicides”, they neglect to mention that 71% of those “gun homicides” are suicides. If suicide is eliminated from the statistics, Arizona has perhaps the *lowest* “gun homicide” rate among the states.
Ironically, there is such a profusion of guns in Arizona that estimates are just guesswork; instead, Arizona compiles statistics on the number of licensed gun dealers (FFL) per capita, which is very high, but at least a manageable number. Scottsdale alone has 4.5 license holders for every 10,000 residents.)
Any reporter asks for and somehow gets my information they can expect a personal visit by me where I will be asking them point blank what they intend to do with that information. I will make my “interview” of him / her as uncomfortable as possible.
The MSM freely and actively promotes and abets a campaign of social terrorism against conservatives, especially gun owners and Christians.
I object strictly as a matter of privacy, it’s none of their business and it’s my “Right to Keep and Bear”.

Stories like this remind of why I oppose government releasing the names of people who sign petitions supporting or opposing a law or policy. Newspapers get ahold of this information and use it as a kind of blackmail, “outing” people who support policies they oppose. The practice of releasing the names is always done under the pretext of the public’s “right to know” who is trying to influence politics, but the practice harms politics by making people less willing to participate due to fear of exposure. It is tantamount to making one’s ballot public.
Then give us the reporters Medical Records! What they hey it is all public data now with Obamacare! Especially the STD's, Jock Itch Medicine, etc etc, let's have their stuff !
Matt Gouras. Another name for the list. It’s always good to know who your enemies are - that’s why he wanted the information in the first place.
Or they could just mail it to the NSA and the Nazi sounding Homeland Security. I am sure they would be interested.
