US unemployment claims fall to 326K, 5 ½-year low

WASHINGTON (AP) — The number of Americans applying for unemployment benefits fell 19,000 last week to a seasonally adjusted 326,000, the fewest since January 2008. The decline shows the job market continues to strengthen.

The Labor Department said Thursday that the less volatile four-week average slid 4,500 to 345,750. The July figures are typically volatile as the government adjusts for seasonal layoffs in the auto industry.

Still, the trend in weekly unemployment claims in recent months has been positive. Applications, which are a proxy for layoffs, have fallen more than 12 percent this year. That's coincided with average job growth of 202,000 a month since January, up from an average of 180,000 in the previous six months.

On Friday, the government reports on July job growth and unemployment. Analysts forecast 183,000 jobs were added last month, and the unemployment rate fell to 7.5 percent from 7.6 percent in June.

I read it as, “There are so few people left working that the number of NEW applications for unemployment will have to decline.”

Bunk.

Bring back American jobs now.

Full-time American jobs.

Real American jobs.

The left sneered and mocked Bush over “McJobs” but that’s virtually all there is to offer these days. Even two or three of them don’t equal a decent full time job.

And yet the left feeeeeeeeeel that Øbongo is doing just fine.

They’ve all been transisioned to disability payments- it’s a lot steadier than unemployment and you don’t have to go stand in line.

It’s more executive branch manipulation of things to win elections.

Don’t believe it any more than you believe the executive branch on Fast and Furious, the IRS, the DOJ, the FBI, State Dept [Benghazi], etc.

It’s marxist propoganda to win the House. If the marxists win the house, it’s not good for America. Can you imagine 0bama, Pelosi, and Reid again? Think what happened last time?

Praying....

WOO HOO!!! The recovery is here, the recovery is here!! Yay for us. We must be at almost full employment by now. It took 5 and a half years but we’re finally here. Enough sarcasm I guess. No, king hussein, the economy still stagnates and you’re still the PLIC. Too bad the KXL will only provide 5 jobs once it’s finished. (just a little more sarc)

How does the supposed good economic news being fabricated this week jive with the president deciding he needed to pivot to the economy last week? He knows its all BS.

I do not believe unemployment has dropped....rather I believe, wholeheartedly, that less people are filing because they can’t anymore, because they’ve been unemployed THAT long.

Leave it to the spin machine of the RATS though, to try and make it seem like candy and rainbows.

Now watch tomorrow's numbers to be 325,000 new jobs, and unemployment rate dropping to 7.4%

(Never mind the lion's share of the new "jobs" are part-time, low-wage, temporary ones)
