U.S. congressional intelligence committee leaders believe the Obama administration has not properly consulted them as the president engages in final deliberations for possible military action in Syria, according to congressional officials.

One of the officials said the administration's discussions with critical lawmakers, including Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Dianne Feinstein and her House counterpart, Mike Rogers, had been limited to "very brief status updates."

Silly congress. You totally surrendered power to the executive branch and are now living what you sow.

there is no further role for Congress."

Nothing is preventing the House, since it is controlled by the GOP from having a vote...other than a bunch of cowards.

Sadly, we may all be reaping what this weak, feckless congress has sown.

This has the potential to get very bad globally, very fast. Get your popcorn ready! This thing has the potential to go biblical. I hope and pray that I am wrong :-(

Someone go pull Boehner out of the Capital Hill bar and get some action in the House going, not that it will really matter.....

“This has the potential to get very bad globally”

I don’t think this is any worse than what bush did or clinton before him. I just don’t see any real gain messing with Syria either.

Exactly right. Congress has completely abrogated its responsibilities to check abuses of power by the executive branch.

There are a lot of moving parts and players inherent in the Syrian problem. Things could rapidly get out of control.

Its Amateur Hour at the White Hut and a hapless congress is on vacation. What could possibly go wrong?

Congress is like the whore in this old joke:

"Will you have sex with me if I give you $1,000 dollars?

"Wow! $1,000? Okay."

"Will you have sex with me if I give you $10 dollars?

"TEN DOLLARS! What do you think I am?"

"Madam, we have already determined what you are. We are now merely discussing the price."

The question that won’t be answered: What is the upside of doing anything with our military in Syria?

The muzzies in Syria aren’t very bright, thus “So they’ll never do this again” won’t work.

The muzzies in Syria are incapable of learning, thus “We’re gonna teach ‘em a lesson they’ll never forget” won’t work.

Anybody catch the propaganda photo next to article here:

Shows what Rueter’s calls ‘a free Syrian army soldier’....’feeding a little kitten’...like it is so sweet. He is probably testing poison on the poor thing.

If Congress weren’t away on its August vacation, the members would be debating the Syrian War Obama wants to get us involved in. Maybe they’d be passing resolutions against it; maybe they’d be passing resolutions asking the executive branch for details about the president’s plans.

What an amazing coincidence that here we are ONE WEEK before Congress returns and the president wants to start attacking Syria as SOON AS POSSIBLE — no UN approval, no time to learn what the UN might have discovered about the chemical-weapons attack — NOW, before Congress returns.

And isn’t it amazing that just at the exact time a pretext such as a chemical-weapons attack was needed so that Obama could declare war on Syria BEFORE Congress returned from its vacation — the chemical-weapons attack occurred.

Could the Obama administration have timed things better if it had wanted to attack Syria?

Bush went to war for oil (So I've been told), Obama is taking us to war for "natural gas." In particular, a gas pipeline that the Saudis want to build through Syria to supply Europe and free them from Russia's monopoly of natural gas distribution.

Assad said no to the pipeline because they are friends/allies with Russia and Russia gets a good portion of its revenue from exporting natural gas to Europe so they cannot allow the Saudis (US Ally) to build this pipeline and break their monopoly.

And that my friend is how WW III will start. Over a natural gas pipeline. In a nutshell.

I just heard a UN representative say, emphatically, that they “were NOT sent to to discover WHO committed the act, just to see IF the act occurred.”

Now, that flies in the face of just about everything I’ve heard from Obama in regards to UN involvement.
