Obama is going on a whirlwind media blitz this week in an attempt to sell a very skeptical public on war with Syria.
Yet the Washington Post notes:
Obamas top aide says the administration lacks irrefutable, beyond-a-reasonable-doubt evidence that skeptical Americans, including lawmakers who will start voting on military action this week, are seeking.
Indeed, those who have seen the evidence say that it is incredibly weak. German intelligence also says that Assad didnt order the attacks.
Moreover, President Obama correctly noted in 2007:
The President does not have the power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation.
Yet Obama admitted last week:
Some people had noted, and I think this is true, that had I been in the Senate in the midst of this period, I probably would have suggested to a Democratic or a Republican president that Congress should have the ability to weigh in an issue like this, that is not immediate, imminent, time-sensitive.
We may not be directly, imminently threatened by whats taking place in a Kosovo or a Syria or Rwanda in the short term, but our long-term national security will be impacted in a profound way, and our humanity is impacted in a profound way.
No wonder that Obama has lost some of his biggest initial supporters for a strike against Syria.
White House efforts to convince the U.S. Congress to back military action against Syria are not only failing, they seem to be stiffening the opposition.
That was the assessment on Sunday, not of an opponent but of an early and ardent Republican supporter of Obamas plan for attacking Syria, the influential Republican chairman of the House intelligence committee, Mike Rogers.
Rogers told CBSs Face the Nation the White House had made a confusing mess of the Syria issue. Now, he said, Im skeptical myself.
Yeah ... but even you Freepers got to admit that I made people quit talking about Benghazi, the IRS targeting of my political opponents, the failing economy, NSA spying, election fraud, my extravagant personal spending, Reggie Love, my life on the golf course, and my lovely wife!
Secretary Kerry suggested that if Assad handed over his chemical weapons the US wouldn’t attack. Kerry immediately mentioned that this would be impossible. However, implied in this is another option; that Assad use all of his chemical weapons now. What is there to deter him from doing that? A professor of mine once used an analogy. If you consider a bacon and egg breakfast, the chicken is involved, but the pig is committed. Assad is already committed. There is no out for him except to win.
I'm sure the world was watching (especially Iran, Syria and North Korea) when Gadaffi voluntarily handed over his chemical weapons to the United States after he'd seen what happened to Saddam Hussein ONLY to be attacked by the United States after having done so.
The buzz word today is whirlwind.
When we think of the destruction in Oklahoma and then of Kerry and Obama and tornados........ does not compute
“No Imminent Threat... No Clear Evidence...”
Well, that’s good enough for 0muslim&Co to waste our American blood and treasure in another useless ME caliphate war. It’s a go!
“when Gadaffi voluntarily handed over his chemical weapons to the United States after he’d seen what happened to Saddam Hussein ONLY to be attacked by the United States after having done so. “
Oh, gosh, I hadn’t thought of that. But, then again, that happened under Bush. So, it’s probably not in Obama’s history bank.
Assad should send all his chemical weapons back to Iraq in about 300 trucks.
The Media wouldn’t print a word.
At least they got a new buzzword. Was getting tired of hearing about all of the "norms" assad was violating. So now I can add "whirlwind" and "norm" to the list of words that lets me know the person using them is just a hack and can be ignored.
I hope my mute button doesn’t break.
Saying he's "skeptical" is Rogers way of covering his butt because he's getting pressure from his constituients who are against Obama's folly.
A little over a week ago, he said "Evidence of an attack is convincing and getting better. (Quote from Washington Post below)
Rogers himself helped create the "confusing mess" that he accuses the administration of. He is just another confused and slippery Republican.
I think Vlad Putin approached Barry at the G-20 and offered him a face saving way out.
Demand Assad hand over chem weapons and give a deadline. Russia will ensure that he delivers some quantity of high-strength pesticides. Obama can then declare victory and crawl back in off the ledge.
The same mentally ill, empty moralism on Syria, agendas of Obozo Liar, Queeg McAinal, Kerry the Faux Vietnam hero, and congressional rats wanting to bomb Syria could apply to 9/11!
Obamas interest in invading non-enemy Syria has nothing to do with Syria, poison gas, or children.
Obamas interest in bombing non-enemy Syria has everything to do with creating a long-lasting, controversial, DISTRACTION for Congress in order to keep Congress from defunding Obamacare/Boehnerkare.
Obamas Red Herring for the 9-11 Benghazi Massacre Coverup was Susan Rices fake Video story.
Obamas Red Herring for distracting Congress until Obamacare/ Boehnerkare kicks in October 1 is Obamas Crossing HIS personal Red Line distraction speech.
Obama speaks only for Obama, not the US Federal Government or America.
REMEMBER BENGHAZI !
So John Kerry is not only the most despicable person on the planet but he really is a liar, just as Putin said.
So basically this is Iraq 2.0 without even the flimsy excuse of “they support AQ” (who the !@#$ doesn’t in that rathole region of the world), as run by someone who lies more than Clintoon and is not just a ‘cowboy’ but one with “a 10-gallon hat and a pint of brains” as an old country saying goes.
