It is basically a gun-free zone). ... He replied that he did not think that the average military or civilian person had enough expertise to be armed... I also told him that if a service member could not be trusted with a gun said service member should get a new profession. The points I made did not resonate with him.”

It sure looks like consistency is not his forte.

So he thinks there are “lots of guns” on a military installation but “the average military or civilian person (does not have) enough expertise to be armed”?

Some liberals are consistently wrong. They know what they believe and have worked out their beliefs to their logical conclusions.

I can respect that. Honesty and integrity are to be encouraged, not in the least because somebody who honestly is seeking the truth can be reached with the truth. The best conservatives are former liberals who have seen the light and realized their errors.

But inconsistency such as what you are quoting here indicates that the person with whom you were talking either doesn't know what he is talking about (likely) or is letting his gun phobia blind him to facts.

The person in question is a smart guy but is typical of many leftists. He bashes fox news as biased and goes on about how MSNBC programming is much better. Anybody who is not blinded by propaganda will tell you that MSNBC is at least a biased as Fox News and truth be told is more so. Basically, the guy is very smart about computers but has taken the lazy way to learn about politics, cliff-notes from the leftists at MSNBC and regurgitating pap from his college days. He also suffers from a superiority complex that which afflicts many liberals. I have to work with him on a semi-regular basis, so I usually try to keep our conversations related to the task at hand or on inconsequential pop culture or sports.
